South Beach Diet Phase 1 Breakfast Ideas

The South Beach Diet features a weight plan program with three distinct phases. Phase 1 is the shortest, lasting only 2 weeks. It is Phase 1 that is the most restrictive. Phase 2 of the South Beach Diet varies in length depending upon the person, and Phase 3 lasts forever. In Phase 1, you are not able to eat fruit, cereal or oatmeal, so you may think it is difficult coming up with breakfast ideas. However, there are several options.

Breakfast Choices for South Beach Phase 1

When starting on the South Beach Diet, many people first complain that breakfast seems the most difficult. But it is the most obvious breakfast choices such as cereal, oatmeal and fruits that are not allowed in Phase 1. Others feel it is impossible to eat 1/2 cup of vegetables for breakfast in addition to protein.

The concept of breakfast with the South Beach Diet is simple: you must eat protein (unlimited amount), 1/2 cup of vegetable and a fat. You are also allowed to have a beverage such as coffee, tea or water provided it is sweetened with a sugar substitute and/or fat-free milk.

Did you know that eggs are allowed on the South Beach Diet? So is turkey bacon and Canadian bacon as well as low-fat cheese. Here are two breakfast ideas:

Breakfast 1 - Omelet made with low-fat cheese and 1/2 cup of broccoli, servecd with a side of Canadian bacon and a half tomato. Remember you have to eat a minimum of 1/2 cup of vegetables with no maximum level.

Breakfast 2 - Scrambled eggs with mushrooms and green peppers served with a side of turkey bacon. This is a perfect breakfast if you're in Phase 1 of the South Beach Diet.

If you get sick of eggs, try a vegetable smoothie. Simply mix a small cucumber with 6 oz. tomato juice with Worchester sauce and tabasco sauce for a frosty surprise.

You can also try egg muffins. See Resources for a recipe.

One thing that you must always remember is that Phase 1 only lasts for 2 weeks. Here is a sample 2-week breakfast plan:

Day 1, 6, 11

Scrambled Eggs

Canadian Bacon

1/2 Tomato

Day 2, 7, 12

Chicken Breast

Hard Boiled Egg

Cucumber

Day 3, 8, 13

Omelet with Brocoli/cheese

6 oz. tomato juice

Day 4, 9, 14

Egg Muffin

1/2 Tomato

Canadian Bacon

Day 5, 10

Fried Eggs

Turkey Bacon

What Are The Benefits Of Sleeping On The Back

What Are the Benefits of Sleeping on the Back?

Some medical practitioners believe that back sleeping is best, whereas others think sleeping on your side is the position of choice. Back sleeping is, for example, quite beneficial too (and safer for) infants.

Support Your Knees

Spineuniverse.com recommends that if you are a back sleeper you place a pillow under your knees to support the natural curve of the lower back. Sleeping on your back may prove helpful if you have lower back issues and pain. The pillow will help take pressure off of your sciatic nerve.

Forget the Pillow

Terri Trespicio, senior editor for "Body+Soul" magazine, is a firm believer that back sleeping, with no pillow, is the most beneficial way to sleep. Trespicio notes that the benefits of not using a pillow while back sleeping is that it allows your spine to rest with all of the natural curves in place. If you do use a pillow, and it is too thick, it can affect your breathing and not in a good way.

Ease Internal Organs

Romow.com agrees with Trespicio that back sleeping is the best route to go because it gives your internal organs room to breathe and is beneficial if you have back pain. According to Drsaracino.com, back sleeping is the best sleeping posture if your legs are elevated at the calves by nine inches. This puts the lower back in contact with the bed. Your back muscles can relax and the discs are able to re-expand because they can reabsorb the fluids that were pushed out of the discs during the day. Lying in this position also enhances blood flow to the heart.

Stop Wrinkles

A potential benefit of back sleeping is that you are not squishing your face against a pillow or mattress, which can cause wrinkles.

Infants

In 1992, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommended that infants should sleep on their backs, rather than on their bellies or side, to prevent Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). It has been reported that back sleeping can reduce the incidence of SIDS by nearly 50 percent.

Warning

According to Jodi Mindell, pediatric sleep expert, back sleeping is not recommended for women who are in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy. Mindell explains that this position puts the full weight of your uterus on your back muscles, intestines, spine and on the vein that transports blood from your lower back to your heart, which is called the vena cava. Furthermore, Mindell says that back sleeping can put a pregnant woman at risk for hemorrhoids, digestion problems, backaches, and can interfere with circulation and breathing. Back sleeping can also affect blood pressure, causing it to drop and making a pregnant woman feel dizzy. For other women, it can cause an increase in blood pressure.

Repair A Dental Filling

Repair a Dental Filling

A dental filling is a medical device used to cover and protect the interior of a tooth with a cavity in it. While these fillings are designed to stay put once they are set into your tooth, it is possible for the filling material to become upset and dislodge form the cavity. If this happens to you and it will be a few days before you can make it back to the dentist for a new filling, you can repair it temporarily yourself.

Instructions

1. Clean out your tooth very well with a toothbrush and toothpaste and let it dry. Make sure there is no food or other materials in your cavity.

2. Put on surgical gloves and pinch off enough dental cement to fill your cavity. It's better to take more than you need than not enough. You can remove some if you have too much.

3. Roll the cement into a smooth, round sphere and press it into your cavity until it fills the entire hole. Use your finger to lightly press the cement into place.

4. Close your mouth and try to chew. The cement should be smooth and flat against the neighboring tooth and you should not feel any discomfort when you clench your teeth. Use the tooth file to remove excess dental cement if you feel uncomfortable.

5. Let the cement harden and set before you drink or eat anything.

Naturopathic Breathing Treatments

If you suffer from breathing difficulty or you're looking to reduce stress, then naturopathic breathing treatments may be of great benefit. Naturopaths employ a variety of natural health treatments from all around the world to improve the health of the lungs, the quality of breathing, and the intake of oxygen. By practicing varied breathing exercises you can improve your energy levels, mood and cardiovascular health, and prevent disease.

Diaphragmatic Breathing

Diaphragmatic breathing, also known as natural breathing or belly breathing, is when the body breaths into the upper, middle and lower portions of the lungs and gains a full breath. Breathing from the upper and middle portions of the lungs produces shallow breathing, with less oxygen reaching the blood. Expanding the stomach and using the diaphragm muscles to inhale, as opposed to the rib cage, gains full access to the lower lobes of the lungs. This form of breathing is taught in yoga and helps to increase energy and reduce stress levels.

Meditation

Meditation, yoga and tai chi help to promote a healthy breathing style.

Mediation and meditative practices -- such as tai chi, qi qong, mantras, hawaiian mana breathing and yoga -- utilize and control the breath specifically to create a rhythmical, slow breathing pattern and induce relaxation. These practices have significant psychological and physical health benefits, lowering the risk of cardiovascular disease, decreasing anxiety and depression, and improving fatigue. A study published in the "British Medical Journal" in 2001 found that spiritual practices, such as prayer and yoga mantras, induced a rhythm of breathing that lowered blood pressure, improved stress and benefited the respiratory system.

Buteyko Breathing

Buteyko breathing is a method of breathwork that is increasingly being recommended to asthmatic patients by doctors and naturopaths. Originally invented by a Ukrainian physician in the 1960s, recent scientific research now supports its effectiveness. In 2003 the "New Zealand Medical Journal" published a research study that showed buteyko was efficacious in reducing the symptoms of asthmatic patients. Buteyko works by reducing and constraining the flow of breath, restricting breathing to only through the nose, and helping patients to relax when asthmatic symptoms begin to occur.

Herbal Medicine

Naturopaths, naturopathic physicians and medical herbalists will often employ herbal medicine as a method of treating conditions which impair breathing and reduce the viability of the lungs. Herbs to clear up lung infections and bronchitis include pleurisy root, grindelia, echinacea, elecampane and thyme. Herbs to open up the airways and bronchial tubes include ascelpius, lungwort, elecampane, ground ivy and black haw. Herbs to reduce inflammation in the lungs include ginkgo and turmeric.

Treat Magnesium Poisoning

When people discuss overdoses, magnesium isn't one of the more commonly thought-of culprits, but it is possible and it's a potentially dangerous condition. Here is treat a case of magnesium poisoning.

Instructions

1. Learn identify a magnesium overdose so you can treat it. Muscles will feel weak and you'll experience a general decline in strength, including slower reflexes. Feelings of drowsiness will plague someone with too much magnesium in their system. They will also have low blood pressure, shallow breathing and they may appear unaware with a lack of concentration.

2. Know that common over-the-counter drugs like laxatives and antacids are high in magnesium. Going over the recommended dosage amount in a 24-hour period can be a cause of magnesium overdose or poisoning that you will need to treat.

3. Stop taking any over the counter drugs, supplements or vitamin-enhanced foods if any of the symptoms of magnesium poisoning are present.

4. Seek medical attention so a doctor can run the appropriate tests and determine the exact level of magnesium in the system for proper treatment. They may provide a calcium gluconate injection or administer dextrose and insulin. You can only administer these treatments for magnesium overdose under a doctor's supervision.

5. Ask about any underlying causes for high magnesium levels in the body. In very few cases, magnesium overdoses are a result of renal failure. Although there are other causes for kidneys to fail, it's likely that the doctor will need additional tests to verify that the kidneys are healthy.

6. Stop administering enemas at home and try to recall how many the patient took and at what time intervals. Enemas are also causes of magnesium poisoning or overdose. Notify your doctor of anything self-administered in the week prior to poisoning, including all enemas, and follow any prescribed treatment plan.

Postviral Fatigue Syndrome Symptoms

Post-viral fatigue syndrome, more commonly called chronic fatigue syndrome, usually begins between the ages of 25 and 45 and is more prevalent in women than men. The disorder was officially defined by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in 1988, and they revised the definition in 1994. Post-viral fatigue syndrome is difficult to diagnose because fatigue is a symptom of many illnesses, but the CDC outlines definitive characteristics.

Fatigue

To be diagnosed with post-viral fatigue syndrome, a person must have experienced severe persistent or intermittent fatigue for at least four months, with no other medical condition determined as the cause. The chronic fatigue does not improve with rest and leads to a significant decrease in the person's work, educational, social and personal activity.

Other Definitive Symptoms

The individual must also have four or more specific symptoms from a list of eight. Two of these address specific characteristics of the fatigue. Sleep is unrefreshing, and physical or mental exertion can worsen symptoms for over 24 hours. Additional definitive symptoms include sore throat, enlarged and tender lymph nodes, muscle pain, non-inflammatory pain in multiple joints (pain without swelling or redness), headaches of a new type or severity, and problems with short-term memory or concentration.

Malaise

People with post-viral fatigue syndrome often report feeling generally unwell. Some degree of fatigue is nearly always present, and may be at its worst when first waking. Physical activity can lead to exhaustion. They have chronic muscle and joint aches, headaches and sore throats. All these symptoms make them feel persistently lousy.

Other Possible Symptoms

A wide range of other symptoms are commonly reported by post-viral fatigue syndrome patients. These symptoms can include a chronic cough, dizziness, jaw pain, lightheadedness upon standing up, sensitivity to light and sound, night sweats, insomnia or sleeping many extra hours, restless-legs syndrome, depression and panic attacks. Additionally, these individuals may have gastrointestinal problems such as diarrhea and bloating and often are diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome.

Cause

Researchers have not determined the cause of post-viral fatigue syndrome. The sore throat and enlarged lymph nodes symptoms point to the syndrome having a viral basis. Previously it was considered to result from chronic Epstein-Barr virus infection, but this theory is no longer in favor.

Get Rehabilitation After Rotator Cuff Surgery

The rotator cuff, located in the shoulder, consists of tendons and muscles. This determines the shoulder range of motion. The rotator cuff connects the humerus, a bone found in the upper arm, securely to the shoulder blade.

Instructions

1. Evaluate options. Injury and surgery to the rotator cuff are very common. This type of injury can occur to an active or inactive person. The most frequent causes are repetitive movement, stress to muscle or tendon, trauma from a fall or brittleness of bones (osteoporosis). A special regiment of treatments involving surgery, therapy or both are usually prescribed methods of rehabilitation.

2. Use a sling. Generally, after rotator cuff surgery, the arm is placed in a sling to immobilize or limit movement. The sling is in place for four to six weeks. Depending on the healing process or degree of injury, the movement is introduced in progressive stages.

3. Get exercise therapy. The most common form of rehabilitation treatment after cuff surgery is medically supervised exercise. The exercise will increase movement, range and flexibility of the muscles and tendons. The effectiveness depends on the severity of the injury. Improvements may take weeks or months.

4. Use physical therapy. Physical therapy is performed by a licensed physical therapist. The role of a physical therapist is to examine and create a rehabilitation treatment plan that will promote movement, decrease pain, improve function, and lessen the possibility of a permanent disability.

5. Try water therapy rehabilitation. Sonic or whirlpool therapy is used in conjunction with other types of therapy. The warm water eject jet pulses. The water relaxes, reduces pain and allows a larger range of movement.

Abdominal Aneurysm Symptoms

An abdominal aneurysm, also called an abdominal aortic aneurysm, is a bulge in the wall of the aorta, the largest artery in the body. The main cause of aortic aneurysms is atherosclerosis, a condition in which fatty deposits collect in the walls of arteries. Though aortic aneurysms are often small enough that they cause no symptoms, they can worsen rapidly, making it very important that you know what to look for.

Pain

Pain caused by an aortic aneurysm can range from mild to severe and can be concentrated in the abdomen, chest, lower back, legs and hips. Severe pain can mean the aneurysm has or is ready to burst.

Throbbing

An abdominal aneurysm can cause a throbbing or pulsating sensation in the abdomen.

Lump

If an abdominal aneurysm grows large enough, it may protrude through the skin or be large enough to be felt through palpation. Lumps due to an abdominal aneurysm usually form near the navel.

Pain or Coldness in Lower Extremities

Abdominal aneurysms can produce blood clots that can break off and travel down your legs, blocking circulation to your feet and/or toes.

Other Symptoms

Among other symptoms caused by abdominal aortic aneurysms are a rapid heartbeat, fever and weight loss.

Warning

Once an abdominal aneurysm has grown large enough to cause symptoms, it has become a potentially life-threatening condition. According to the National Institutes of Health, less than 40 percent of people survive a ruptured abdominal aneurysm.

Increase Sperm Count And The Chance Of Conception

Low sperm count is a common cause of infertility in couples who are trying to get pregnant. If the woman's ovaries, eggs, and uterus are healthy and have no apparent signs of abnormality, then it's time to look at the man's role in conception.

Low sperm count can be treated with hormones and medication prescribed by your doctor. Additionally, there are natural remedies a man can use to keep his sperm count high, and his sperm cells in top form.

Instructions

1. Stop smoking. Prolonged smoking decreases the amount of oxygen available in the blood, which in turn has a negative impact on sperm production. Moreover, carcinogens in tobacco products can cause malformations of the sperm. Most defective sperm cannot swim far enough to reach the egg, and the few that do cannot produce viable embryos.

2. Reduce your alcohol intake. Alcohol slows down many processes in the body, including sperm count.

3. Increase your testosterone levels. If you have seriously low T levels, it is best to undergo hormone therapy with medication. However, if your T levels are just moderately low, you can easily increase testosterone with two simple techniques: lose body fat, and increase muscle mass.

Regular exercise, a healthy diet, and weight lifting will bring up your testosterone, which in turn will help your testes produce many healthy sperm.

4. Let the sperm build up by having fewer ejaculations outside the womb. To maximize the possibility of conceiving, only come inside your wife's or girlfriend's vagina. Avoid masturbating between moments of intercourse.

5. Keep yourself hydrated and eat plenty of protein. Water and protein are necessary to produce seminal fluids, the stuff that nourishes the sperm and provides lubrication for intercourse.

6. To mitigate the effects of low sperm, penetrate more deeply when you ejaculate in your wife. This will bring the sperm closer to the egg so they don't have to swim as far. Many sperm die en route to the egg because of the distance, but deep penetration minimizes this.

Make Massage Candles

Massage candles nourish the skin and relax you with warmth and fragrance.

Massage candles are different from the usual candles in both makeup and purpose. Instead being burned for light and fragrance, massage candles are melted and used in massage therapy. Containing ingredients that are beneficial to the skin, a portion of the melted candle is poured and massaged over the skin at a temperature slightly warmer than body temperature. Massage candles also contain fragrance from essential oils used in aroma therapy.

Instructions

1. Place the soy wax and oil in the measuring cup, and microwave at 30-second intervals until the wax is melted. Watch carefully to prevent overheating. Remove from the microwave carefully because the measuring cup will be hot.

2. Add the essential oil to the wax, and stir until mixed.

3. Place the wick tab sticker on the tab’s bottom and secure it to the center bottom of the tin. The wick tab sticker has adhesive on both sides, which will adhere the tab to the container bottom.

4. Pour the wax into the candle tin just before the wax is cooled enough to set up. Position the wick in the center. If the wick wants to fall to the side, wrap the wick around a pencil or craft stick until the stick lays across the tin’s rim and wick is straight and centered. The stick will hold the wick in place until the candle wax sets.

5. Allow the candle to cure for seven days before burning. This helps the oils to set with wax for a better fragrance.

6. When using the candle, let it burn until just a little wax melts. Blow out the flame and let the wax cool to about 102 degrees. Pour the wax into your hand and begin massaging the warm mixture on the skin. You can use a candy thermometer to check the temperature or do a touch test with a drop or two of wax onto your palm.

Bed Bug Methods

Whether or not you're sleeping tight, the bed bugs may still bite. Bed bugs are small nocturnal insects that feed on human blood. After the decrease in use of the pesticide DDT and with international travel on the rise, bed bug infestations have become more common. The bugs live in small areas and clothing and can be difficult to remove once an area is infested. Being aware of the hiding spots and symptoms of bed bugs can help you spot an infestation before it gets out of control.

Locating Infestations

Bed bugs tend to gather where you sleep, making it easier to feed during the night when you are asleep. They typically like to hide in tight enclosed areas such as the cracks between mattresses or couch cushions. Other hiding spots include the edgings of carpet and small spaces like lifted wallpaper. Bed bugs leave behind small mold-like spots of excrement and tiny white eggs, so look for these when checking common bed bug areas.

Treating Bites

The bite from a bed bug causes different symptoms depending on the person. In the most extreme cases, bites become infected and may cover the whole body if the infestation is large enough. Bites are painless, but the raised bumps tend to itch. Astringents such as witch hazel or anti-itching creams like cortisone and calamine help to alleviate the symptoms of bed bug bites. Anti-inflammatories like ibuprofen reduce the swelling in large groupings of bites common with large infestations.

Treating Infestations

Bed bugs are extremely resilient creatures. An adult bed bug can live for over a year without feeding. Typically, a professional pest control service is called to completely eliminate the infestation with a combination of pesticides and cleaning. Mattresses and couches may need to be thrown away if the pesticide is unable to penetrate the material efficiently. Diatomaceous earth, a natural substance, is able to dehydrate living bedbugs and can be sprayed directly when mixed with water. Exposing bed bugs and their eggs to heat over 115 degrees Fahrenheit will also kill them, though the heat must be applied quickly to avoid migration of the bugs to other rooms.

Checking Hotel Rooms

Since bed bugs hide in mattresses, furniture and clothing, hotels are prime targets for bed bug infestations. Always check around your hotel room for signs of an infestation before unpacking any clothing from your luggage. Use the standing rack to keep luggage off the floor and place luggage away from common bed bug areas such as the beds or other furniture.

Led Light Therapy For Skin Care

LED Light Therapy for Skin Care

Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) were found by NASA to stimulate plant growth in space. LED light in different wavelength colors is used to treat many skin-related issues, such as acne, wound healing and collagen stimulation. The Food and Drug Administration has approved LED light therapy in cosmetic applications because it carries no risk of overexposure or eye injury. LED light systems are used in doctors' offices, spas and salons. You can buy LED light systems for home use.

Color

Each LED light color penetrates the skin differently. Blue light is an antibacterial agent. Red light is an anti-inflammatory. Near-infared light stimulates cell activity and increases production of collagen and elastin. Yellow light helps the lymph system to detoxify your body. Green light increases melanin production and reduces redness.

Acne

Two colors of LED light are used in the treatment of acne. The red light reduces the inflammation; the blue light helps to kill the bacteria causing acne breakouts. Manufacturers of these light therapies recommend 15 to 20 minutes a day for eight to 12 weeks to see results. A handheld LED light can be used at home consistently.

Wrinkle Correction

LED red and infrared light is used for smoothing fine lines and wrinkles. The penetrating light waves of the red and infrared light stimulate your body's natural production of collagen and elastin. The stimulation of collagen plumps up skin. The LED red light has an overall lifting effect and improves tone and texture.

Rosasea

Treat your rosacea symptoms with LED light therapy. Red light LED systems have an anti-inflammatory action. Rosacea is a chronic vascular skin condition. Red light therapy's anti-inflammatory properties may halt rosacea progression and build collagen, thickening the skin and adding protection to surface blood vessels.

Treatment

Treatment with LED therapy is simple and painless. There are different delivery systems for LED light: handheld models, models you place over affected areas, and some units that are placed on tabletops. Units can be strapped in place directly over the area needing treatment. LED light has no harmful side effects, so the light can be placed close to your skin surface.

LumiLift

Available in salons, spas and doctors' offices, the LumiLift system by Soli-tone is a powerful LED red light system that simulates your cells' ability to repair themselves. The LumiLift system tightens and lifts muscles. This LED smooths wrinkles and makes your maintenence creams and serums penetrate better.

LumiFacial

This system by Soli-tone is also only available professionally. This unique photo facial platform can provide blue light for acne, yellow light for detoxifying and healing, green light to reduce redness, and red light to increase collagen production.

Eat For Anemia As A Fruitarian

Although there are many different reasons people become a fruitarian, the nutrients needed by each person that chooses this specific diet for their lifestyle varies little. In fact getting enough iron is often a problem fruitarians experience, especially when they have just committed to it. However, this can be combated by learning eat for anemia as a fruitarian.

Instructions

1. Learn about the many different types of fruits, vegetables and raw foods you are capable of eating. Doing so will help you identify foods that offer certain nutrients and vitamins you need to fuel your body.

2. Eat nuts, seeds and dried fruits in order to get protein, calcium, iron and zinc. These are important since they can prevent you from developing anemia or providing a natural cure if you already have it.

3. Consume a variety of raw food. That's important since each type of food contains its own combination of nutrients and vitamins. While you may be aiming for nuts, seeds or fruits that offer high iron to assist with anemia problems, you also need several other nutrients and vitamins. Lacking on these only results in other areas of your health and well-being suffering.

4. Be am avid juicer. Rather than try to eat three or four different pieces of fruit to gain the nutrients they need, many turn to juicing machines. This allows them to get all the nutrients and vitamins they need without getting too full and not being able to finish all the fruit.

5. Take a multivitamin or iron supplements if you do suffer from anemia and can't cure it through your diet. This ensures that your body receives the nutrients and vitamins it needs, and some prefer this since it doesn't require them to eat as much everyday.

Remove Adhesive Bandages After Surgery

Following surgery most patients will leave the hospital with surgical bandages over their wound along with instructions on when to remove them. Getting the bandages off can be painful and the residual adhesive is difficult to remove with simple soap. But bandages can be changed or removed in just a few easy steps with minimal pain.

Instructions

1. Before beginning the bandage removal process wash your hands thoroughly with antibacterial soap. You do not want to risk causing an infection because of germs on your hands.

2. Dry your hands and hold the end of the bandage. Slowly pull your skin away from the bandage. Removing the skin from the bandage rather than the bandage from the skin will minimize pain. Continue to press the skin down and pull the bandage away until it is off.

3. You may notice heavy adhesive left on the skin. Take a cotton ball from a sealed package and put a bit of baby oil on it. Rub the cotton ball on the adhesive residue to remove it. Be careful not to come to close to the wound.

4. You may be instructed to wash the area after you remove the bandage. Use a gentle fragrance-free bar soap to wash the area. Pat it dry with a clean towel when you are done washing it off.

Identify Scabies

Scabies is a highly contagious condition caused by parasitic mites. Due to its contagiousness, it often occurs in day cares, nursing homes and other places where people frequently congregate. It often breaks out in epidemics. Scabies is easily treated with topical medication.

Instructions

1. Note any rash that is severely itchy. Scabies usually itches at night or after a hot bath or shower. It may itch so much it prevents sleep.

2. Pay attention to any red patches on the skin. These are sites in which the mites have burrowed under the skin to live.

3. Analyze any curvy white or red lines that are razor thin. These marks result from the mites burrowing into the skin.

4. Look for the rash in warm places on the body. Mites generally like areas between the fingers, the armpits, naval, lower abdomen and genitals. It is extremely rare for scabies to appear on the face.

5. Identify any rash with a scaly appearance. A severe form of scabies, known as Norwegian scabies, has a crusted appearance. This type of scabies is more difficult to treat due to the crusted condition of the skin. It makes it more difficult for the medicine to reach the rash and mites.

6. Get tested. A doctor can perform a simple skin test to identify whether the rash is due to scabies mites. This is a painless test that involves scraping the rash for skin samples to analyze under a microscope. The mites are easy to identify under the microscope.

Alternatives To Knee Replacements

Arthritis can cause severe knee pain and limit a person's mobility. This can interfere with someone's ability to accomplish everyday tasks. When the pain affects a person's quality of life, a total knee replacement can restore near-normal joint function. But before making the decision to have knee replacement surgery, you should first exhaust all the alternative treatment options available. These include: diet, physical therapy, medications, orthopedic appliances, walking aids, and less extensive surgical options.

Diet, Physical Therapy, and Medications

Excess weight can contribute to the pain and deterioration of an arthritic knee. According to Arthritis Insight, if you are overweight, losing some of those additional pounds will lighten the stress on your knees. Speak with your doctor about physical therapy. Gaining muscle strength and additional flexibility are two of the benefits of physical therapy, which can offer tremendous relief for a painful knee joint.

If the above two options have not helped, over-the-counter arthritis medications, such as Tylenol Arthritis Pain, should be tried before resorting to the NSAID's (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs) Celebrex and Vioxx, which are prescribed medications. All of the NSAID's have potentially harmful side effects. The Hip and Knee Institute offers a comprehensive list of a variety of medications with their benefits and risks.

Orthopedic Appliances and Walking Aids

The Arthritis Insight Web site describes special braces that alter the weight load on specific areas of the knee with damaged or worn cartilage. If your arthritis has advanced to the point where diet and physical therapy do not offer enough pain relief, or if the deterioration of your knee is not too extensive, the knee brace offers relief. It can help relieve the continual wear and tear on the damaged areas, and may postpone the inevitable progression of your arthritis. Crutches and canes may also help to relieve pressure on an arthritic joint. You can try different models at any Wal-Mart, pharmacy, or surgical supply store. You will be amazed at how much relief you can get by alleviating even a small amount of pressure on a painful joint.

Alternative Surgical Options

If none of the above suggestions relieves your pain or improves the quality of your life and your ability to function, several alternative surgical options can be discussed with your doctor. Arthritis Insight's review of the various alternative surgical procedures available gives you some options to discuss with your doctor. It also prepares you for any questions you may have to ask at your next appointment.

Arthroscopic surgery, which involves a small incision, trims cartilage and damaged tissue. Cartilage transplantation is a procedure that replaces damaged knee cartilage with healthy cartilage from another area of the body. If the problem with your knee stems from an improper alignment of your leg, an Osteotomy can be done to cut the bone and realign the position of the leg and knee. Uni-compartmental Arthroplasty is performed to replace only the damaged area of the knee instead of the entire joint. As a last resort, Arthrodesis (knee fusion) can be considered. It involves permanently immobilizing the knee by flattening the ends of the bones that form the knee joint and allowing them to grow together.

You might also want to consider the options of cortisone injections or injectable lubricants such as Synvisc or Hyalgan. They allow freer joint movement for approximately six months with reduction or elimination of pain.

Cabbage Soup Diet Information

The cabbage soup diet goes hand-in-hand with the '80s, like Pat Benatar and leg warmers. Most fad dieters tried this one, probably because of its promise to help shed 10 pounds in a week. The diet is still around, although it's undergone some modifications.

What Is It?

The cabbage soup diet involves seven days of near-fasting, with the soup as the core food, and a limited variety of additional items for each day. Dieters can have as much of the soup as they like, with a combination of other foods on specified days. However, many dieters find that they can't stomach the soup by the end of the week, having consumed countless bowls.

Origins

The diet has been given many names, including the "General Motors Diet," but no one has come forth to claim it as their creation. It was passed around by fax machine, in the days before group email lists, as well as by copies made on the sly in the office. Now, it's being reviewed on numerous diet information websites, and no doubt circulated by email.

What You Can Eat

Although there are variations on the diet, the main ingredients have remained pretty static: onion soup mix, bouillon, cabbage, celery, tomatoes (and sometimes V8 juice), onions, peppers and carrots. On the first day, as much fruit as desired is allowed, except for bananas; on the second, vegetables, including a baked potato with butter, can be eaten, and the third day allows for a combination of fruits and veggies, excluding bananas and potatoes. The fourth day includes up to eight bananas, enough to please a monkey, plus unlimited skim milk. Large amounts of beef are allowed on the fifth and sixth days, as well as tomatoes on the fifth and all veggies but potatoes on the sixth, and on the final day, brown rice and veggies, as well as unsweetened fruit juice, are acceptable.

Pros

Since few calories are consumed, water weight loss can be substantial in a short period of time. For special occasions, the cabbage soup diet might work. Users of this diet also consume a lot of fruit and vegetables; in fact, most Americans will probably take in quite a bit more produce than they normally eat.

Cons

Since the soup base includes both onion soup mix and bouillon, its sodium content is very high. The diet also includes very little protein, with the exception of the two days when beef is allowed. Some dieters have experienced light-headedness and dizziness, possibly due to these factors or the calorie shortage. Gas can be a problem, considering all the cabbage involved, but adding Beano to the soup during cooking can help alleviate that.

Updates

One current version of the diet allows only two bowls of the soup per day, rather than the old-school unlimited amount, most likely due to the sodium content. Other updates include mushrooms in the soup, but the bulk of the recipe has remained the same over the years. Some people now include protein shakes to compensate for the lack of meat.

Determine The Numerology Of Your Birthday

According to the science of numerology, the number associated with your birthday has great, unique power. Harness that energy by learning more about numerology. Everybody has numbers that are significant in their lives, and a birthday is probably the most telling. Numbers determine or identify personal characteristics that can help you accentuate your good qualities, avoid negative influences and associate with people who are right for you.

Instructions

Understand the Numerology of Your Birthday

1. Determine your primary personal number. Start with your numeric birthday. For instance, if your birthday is July 3, your primary number is 3. If your birthday falls on July 11 or 22, you have a "master" number, which has special significance. Check a reference, such as Astrology-Numerology, since meanings can vary (see Resources below).

2. Reduce your numeric birthday if it has two digits (other than 11 and 22) by a formula called digit summing. Simply add the two digits together. If your birthday is July 14, add 1+4=5. Your primary number is 5. If your birthday is July 19, you have to reduce it twice: 1+9=10, and 1+0=1. In that case, 1 would be your primary number.

3. Understand the meaning of your birthday number by consulting your reference. Each of the "core" numbers in numerology, 1 through 9, have traits or powers associated with them. Now that you have your primary personal, or birthday, number, you can get insights into your personality so you can make better decisions. You can also find out about the people you live and work with, so you can improve your relationships too.

The Freshman 15

There is scarcely a graduating high school senior that hasn't been warned about the dreaded Freshman 15---the term for the all too common weight gain experienced by college freshman. While some freshman will not gain any significant weight during their first year at university, many will gain the Freshman 15 pounds, or even 20 or 30 in some instances.

Significance

While the Freshman 15 has become the generic term for the frequent weight gain experienced by college freshman, recent studies indicate that while most freshman do gain weight, it is usually not as much as the Freshman 15. Studies show that on average college students typically gain between 3 to 10 pounds during their first two years of college, with the majority of that weight gain occurring during the first semester of their freshman year. Some students do gain the Freshman 15 or more, but most gain significantly less than that.

Features

There are many causes for the Freshman 15 weight gain, most of which revolve around the new freedom of lifestyle that college freshman are experiencing for the first time. Before college, most teenagers living at home do not set their own hours and diet, rather, their parents set curfews and determine what food will be served at meals. Some of the top reasons for the Freshman 15 weight gain include overeating high calorie foods in self-serve dining halls, eating a lot of pizza and unhealthy takeout, lack of sleep, excessive snacking, alcohol consumption and lack of exercise. The stress that many college freshmen feel dealing with their new living situation and difficult coursework can lead to emotional eating and weight gain as well.

Prevention/Solution

Fortunately the Freshman 15 weight gain can be easily avoided with proper nutritional knowledge and healthy practices and any weight already gained can also be shed by adapting a new healthy lifestyle. To avoid the Freshman 15, college students should eat three appropriately portioned meals a day of low-fat nutritious foods, along with snacks like fruit and vegetables. Students should not eat mindlessly while watching TV or studying and should identify emotional eating due to stress and learn to handle stress without food. Most colleges have extensive workout facilities and students should take advantage of these gyms to keep in shape and healthy. Alcohol consumption and smoking should also be avoided in order to prevent the Freshman 15 weight gain. Alcohol is full of empty calories and can cause weight gain and significant health problems, while smoking often leads to cancer and can cause difficulty exercising that leads to weight gain.

Effects

Health experts are concerned about the long-term implications of the Freshman 15. Weight gained in college can often set precedents for the rest of the student's life, since weight that is gained as an adult is difficult to lose. College students that gain the Freshman 15 and refuse to change their eating and lifestyle habits will typically continue to gain weight throughout their adulthood, leading to obesity, heart disease and type 2 diabetes.

Considerations

For many college students, gaining the Freshman 15 is their first experience with any type of weight gain. Most students have been growing throughout their teen years, but by the time they reach college no longer need to maintain the caloric intake of a growing adolescent. Many students were also highly active in high school on school sports teams but find themselves exercising little in college. Students that do not amend their diets and activity level are particularly susceptible to the Freshman 15 weight gain.

Enlarged Prostate Gland Problems

As men get older, one of the potential problems they face is an enlarged prostate. Like graying hair, it is a natural process which many men have trouble with. The problem is caused by the prostate pressing against the urethra. What does this mean for you?

Trouble urinating

A narrowed urethra means the bladder has to work extra hard to empty itself. This means trouble starting, feeling of need to urinate immediately after urinating, frequent need to urinate (even during the night) and a weak stream.

Bladder problems

A bladder which is never emptied can lead to other complications such as infection, bladder stones and kidney damage.

Caution!

Urinary problems in men can be the result of many things. Make sure it's nothing more serious than an enlarged prostate, such as prostate cancer, bladder cancer or bladder stones which should be treated immediately.

Treatment

Besides the inconvenience of having the constant urge to urinate, a prolonged wait can result in serious future complications since the problem will not go away on its own. Thus, is it best to visit your doctor if the symptoms persist for more than a week.

Facts

An enlarged prostate is the most common problem for men over 50 and, at 60, over 60% of men have some sort of prostate trouble.

How A Guy Can Lose Weight At Home

Weight loss is a factor of metabolism, which involves burning more calories than the body absorbs as food. This can be accomplished in two basic ways: Eat less food with fewer calories, or burn more calories than you consume by exercising. If you're a guy and want to lose weight at home, follow these steps to shed pounds and feel better.

Instructions

1. Talk with your doctor about your weight-loss goals, so the two of you can craft a diet and exercise plan for achieving your objectives based on your health and current physical shape. Guys who form a plan for losing weight are typically more successful in their efforts, research shows. The doctor may also prescribe appetite-curbing medications for you to take.

2. Stick to the diet. Losing weight at home means practicing self-control, because there may not be anyone around to stop you from raiding the refrigerator. To resist temptation, avoid buying fatty foods to bring home. If you do not have calorie-rich foods in the house, it will be more difficult to eat them.

3. Buy a pair of pants or a cool shirt in the size you want to reach with your diet. Hang up the clothing where you must see it every day. On a towel rack in your bathroom is a good place to hang those smaller clothes as a daily reminder that you have a goal to meet.

4. Track your calorie consumption with a chart and write down the information faithfully. All packaged foods contain calorie information based on individual servings. If you need to cap your calories at 2,000 per day, you need a record-keeping system to know when you've hit your limit. A wax pencil and erasable chart can be held with magnets on the refrigerator.

5. Work out. Follow your exercise plan, whether it involves pumping iron with free weights or walking around the block three times a week. They key to losing weight is to consume fewer calories while burning more calories. Exercise will help you do this. Regular exercise is also proven to elevate mood, enhance self-esteem, improve a person's ability to sleep restfully through the night and heighten mental activity, which makes a guy more alert and functioning at his best.

Unusual Perimenopause Symptoms

According to the Mayo Clinic, perimenopause is the transition of a women's body into menopause. It generally begins when a woman is in her 40s or 50s and continues until she has not had a menstrual cycle for a full year. Common symptoms include hot flashes, forgetfulness, lack of sexual desire and moodiness. In addition, some unusual symptoms might occur too.

Why Symptoms Occur

Menopause marks the end of fertility because the ovaries stop producing estrogen and progesterone. During the pre-menopausal period, estrogen levels begin to fluctuate unpredictably. Since the hormone estrogen is integral to many bodily functions, the changes in level can result in a variety of symptoms.

Unusual Physical Changes

Hair may thin in a variety of ways, including balding, thinning around the edges or falling out in clumps. Since estrogen helps the hypothalamus regulate body temperature, body temperature may vary dramatically and cause an unusual odor. Nails may also become brittle.

Unusual Sensations

Skin may tingle, feel numb or have a creepy, crawly feeling. The tongue may feel a periodic burning sensation. Breasts may experience a variety of sensations, including tenderness, tightness, swelling and aching. The pain may be in just one breast and occur intermittently.

Contribution to Other Medical Problems

Changing estrogen levels during perimenopause can contribute to other medical conditions. For example, reduced estrogen levels have an impact on how much calcium is absorbed by bones. Gum problems, such as gingivitis and periodontitis, may result from this change. The onset or increase in the intensity of an allergy may also occur.

Treatment

Unusual symptoms should be reviewed with a doctor. They may be an indication of a more serious medical condition that requires attention. Hormone therapy may help treat perimenopause symptoms. Other remedies involve diet, exercise and stress reduction. Discuss options with your doctor.

The Advantages Of Using Aromatherapy While Studying

Aromatherapy offers students a natural study aid.

Aromatherapy uses essential oils extracted from plants and herbs to heal ailments and conditions. Users can inhale the fragrance from the oils, massage them into the skin or take them orally, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center. Before consuming aromatherapy oils, a user should always consult with a professional. Some oils are dangerous and should not be consumed. Students can use aromatherapy oils to help them meet the mental challenges of studying for long hours.

Natural Treatments

Aromatherapy oils allow the student to use an all-natural product to enhance concentration, fight fatigue and improve memory during study. Essential oils are extracted from plants and herbs and contain no other ingredients. Users can blend oils together for an enhanced effect.

Increased Concentration

Aromatherapy oils help during study times by improving concentration. Users inhale the stimulating aromas of basil and lavender oil in an aromatherapy atomizer. The atomizer heats the oil and releases the aromatic oil and particles into the air. Atomizers are available in various sizes and types, which can be placed on a desk during study.

Reduces Fatigue

Reading large amounts of material during study can cause fatigue and sleepiness. Aromatherapy oils that have a sharp aroma such as clove help to prevent fatigue during study. Citrus oils such as grapefruit can help to energize the mind and body for study.

Memory Enhancement

Herbalists and aromatherapists use rosemary for a number of conditions such as muscle pain and spasms, to support the circulatory system and to improve memory, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center. Rosemary oil should not be taken internally.

Mental Stamina

Hunt For Moonstones

A darker moonstone specimen.

Moonstone is the common name for oligoclase, a variety of feldspar. Feldspar, which is composed of sodium, calcium and potassium, is the most common mineral in the Earth's crust. Variations in the amount of calcium and sodium produce different types of feldspar, some more common than others. Moonstones are one of the less common types. There are few natural moonstone reservoirs, so hunting for them is not something to approach without planning. The name "moonstone" is also used to refer to chalcedony found along the California coast. Here is hunt for feldspar and chalcedony moonstones.

Instructions

Hunting for Feldspar Moonstones

1. Search the Internet to find moonstone mines. There are only a few places in the world where moonstone is found naturally. Most moonstone in the United States is found in Appalachian states such as North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Virginia, although there are small deposits in other areas.

2. Call the moonstone mine to ask about hours of operation, prices and what you'll need to bring. Some mines require you to supply your own equipment, which includes gloves and digging tools.

3. Go to the mine and purchase a sample of "ore." This is usually contained in a bucket or a bag and will appear to be simply a collection of rocky dirt.

4. Take your dirt to the water trough, which should be flanked by benches or other seating.

5. Carefully place handfuls of your dirt into the mesh-bottomed box at the trough and place it under running water. The silt and sand will be washed away, revealing larger rocks and gemstones.

6. Place the rocks and gemstones you want to keep in a plastic bag and return to the visitor center or lobby. Often, you can have your stones inspected there for free.

Hunting for California Moonstones

7. Use Mapquest or Google Earth to locate Cambria, Calif. Moonstone Beach, just north of the town of Cambria, is the most popular spot in the state for hunting California moonstones (also known as chalcedony).

8. Visit Moonstone Beach at low tide. Moonstones are most often found in tidal pools, which are only exposed during low tide.

9. Look in tide pools between large rocks. Don't be afraid to move kelp aside to get a closer look. While most of what you see will be green-gray pieces of gravel, your hunt might reveal small whitish stones, some with brilliant gray or brown layered patterns. These are California moonstones.

Bathe A Child Wearing A Cast

Besides the obvious inconvenience of managing a cast and the awkwardness of seeing your child lug it around, the issue of bathing can present a challenge. Casts must stay dry. To bathe a child, you need to work with water. do this so that your child is clean and the cast is undamaged requires some trial and error.

Instructions

1. Avoid the shower. Even if your child is old enough to be in the shower by themselves, managing the protection of a cast and the manipulation of the water is simply too much. You'll end up with a sodden cast, a dirty child and a mess.

2. Use a plastic bag. While there are certainly products that you can purchase that are meant to slip over and protect a cast from exposure to water, a good old plastic bag is cost effective and just as useful. Depending on the size of the cast, you can use a shopping bag or a grocery bag slipped over the limb in question.

3. Cover the top of the cast with a washcloth. Tuck it into the edges of the cast (not too aggressively or your child will be uncomfortable). No matter how carefully you place the plastic bag, you'll want a washcloth to absorb any run off during the bathing process.

4. Run a shallow bath. You will be moving quickly so there's no need to worry about the water cooling too quickly and less water means less potential for problems with the cast. Make it deep enough that your child's bottom can be rinsed properly, but not so deep that it covers their legs.

5. Have your child keep the cast out of the bathing area if at all possible. If it's a broken ankle or lower leg, this is relatively easy. Have the child lie down in a shallow bath and stick her plastic bag covered leg out of the tub. But an arm cast presents more of a challenge. Have the child simply keep it stable and above water so that you can bathe around it.

6. Use a plastic bowl or cup to sluice water over your child prior to soaping up. Then use it to rinse off the soap. For a child with a cast on his arm, have him sit in the water, bathe his upper body, rinse and then have him stand up and wash his lower body. The lower body can be rinsed while washing his hair. For the child with a lower body cast, have him sit up to wash his upper body and hair and then lie down to rinse and wash the lower extremities.

Relieve Abdominal Pain Related To Constipation

Constipation occurs when there is a backup of fecal matter in the colon. This can range from mild to severe. In some instances, this can last for a long time and lead to other health related issues. In the short term or long term, abdominal pain is almost always a sure thing to happen. This can also be mild to severe depending on how long you have been constipated or how backed up you are. The way to relieve abdominal pain is by eliminating the colon of this backed up matter.

Instructions

1. Take a fiber supplement. Fiber supplements come in the form of powders, pills, liquids and chewable tablets. They can be added to food, mixed in juice, or just chewed up and swallowed. Psyllium husks is a common type of powder supplement.

2. Eat more fiber in your diet. This comes with a lot of benefits. One of those benefits is that it helps aid elimination by causing softer stools that are easier to pass. The National Academy of Sciences Institute of Medicine recommends that men 50 and younger get 38 g a day and women 50 and younger get 25 g a day. Some examples of fiber rich foods are fruits, vegetables, whole grains, oat bran and beans.

3. Try an oral stimulant. These help promote contractions of the muscles inside the intestinal walls, which leads to stool eliminations. An example of this type of product is Ex-Lax.

4. Get a colonic. This is a process where an instrument called a speculum is inserted into the rectum. Warm water is then infused into your colon, irrigating it of backed up fecal matter and debris. As the water is going in, another tube carries the waste products away.

5. Try some ginger. The most common way to take ginger is in the form of tea. It has been known to alleviate stomach discomfort and aid in digestion. It can also be found in the form of tinctures, tablets, capsules or even fresh.

Ems Procedures For Seizures

Seizures indicate a problem in the brain where sudden, abnormal electrical activity occurs. Some seizures cause a person to shake uncontrollably, but symptoms can be much milder. Seizures can last anywhere from 30 seconds to two minutes and do not cause lasting damage. Seizures that last longer than five minutes or are recurring are an emergency and require medical attention. Emergency Medical Service professionals help keep a patient safe before and during transfer to a hospital.

Clear The Scene

If you are an Emergency Medical Service professional, clear the area surrounding the person. Make sure there is nothing near the patient that could fall on him or cut or bruise his seizing body. If his head is hitting a hard surface floor or ground, lay a pillow or towel underneath the head. Avoid physically restraining the patient unless it is necessary to protect him. Make sure his mouth is free of obstruction, and do not put anything in the mouth.

Protect the patient's privacy by clearing away any bystanders. If that is not possible, try to shield the patient from onlookers. Part of an EMS worker's job is to maintain the dignity of the patient.

During the Seizure

If a patient has a single seizure, wait until it ends before transporting the person. In the case that a patient has multiple seizures, begin transportation before the seizures are over. A 2001 study by researchers at the University of California in San Francisco found that seizing patients administered anti-seizure drugs in the ambulance on the way to a hospital, are more likely to be free of seizures by the time they arrive at the hospital than those not given medication. Transport the patient in a quiet environment. Flashing lights and sirens can cause additional seizures.

Post-Seizure

Once the seizure is over, survey the patient's condition. Administer oxygen, then check the patient's condition a second time. If possible, get the patient's medical history. As part of the medical history, find out if the patient has a diagnosed seizure disorder, what medications he takes and when he takes them, if the patient has any medical identification tags, any drug or alcohol abuse and if the patient has recently suffered any head, neck or spine trauma.

Write A Hypnosis Script

Hypnosis script writing isn’t difficult. Most professional hypnotherapists write their own scripts to tailor them to the way they speak. You need a good imagination and the ability to create scenes and situations. Each script will have a certain theme. One script will induce calmness and serenity in a person’s life, another will be used for weight loss and smoking cessation. There are hundreds of scripts to improve the quality of life.

Instructions

1. Visualize a scene in your mind that brings about calm and serenity. The scene may be of a walk in a field of golden flax swaying with the warm breeze, on through the green field to a babbling brook, where water flows over the rocks and minnows swim undisturbed. Pause. The sounds of nature all around you allow your mind to drift. Birds sing high on the boughs of tall trees, hopping from branch to branch in the sunshine.

2. Notice the blue sky with white clouds floating by on the warm breeze as it moves your hair from your face. The sunshine feels relaxing, relaxing you. Pause here for five seconds; allow the patient to visualize the scene. Your mind begins to feel at ease as your cares float away with the clouds. You are safe here in your special place, where nothing can hurt you.

3. You are so relaxed now that you'd like to stop and sit for a while to enjoy the moment, admire the scenery, and experience the calm. You can come here to your special place whenever you need to feel calm and peaceful. Pause. Breathe in the warm country air and then you will be brought back to your conscious mind.

4. Bring the peaceful feelings with you as we count back from the count of five. Five--you are feeling refreshed. Four--you will feel relaxed and calm. Three--you become aware of your surroundings. Two--your eyes begin to open, and one--snap your fingers as an audio cue to the patient--you are back.

Regrow Hair With Stuff Around The House

Regrow Hair With Stuff Around the House

Are you suffering from hair thinning or hair loss but don't want to spend a lot of money on medical treatments that aren't 100 percent effective? Maybe the idea of sticking anything that isn't natural into your body gives you the heebie-jeebies? Look no further, because you can regrow your hair with common things found around the house.

Instructions

1. Once a week, massage 1 tablespoon of extra-virgin olive oil into your scalp and leave it in overnight. Rinse out the olive oil the next morning, or it could clog your pores. Doing this once a week is an excellent way to purify your pores. During the day, our hair is exposed to an array of toxic and unpleasant elements such as pollution and built-up dirt and sweat. Simply shampooing your hair is not enough to cleanse these pores. Olive oil has many benefits, and improving hair growth is one of them.

2. Drink 8 to 12 glasses of water a day to ensure that your body is sufficiently hydrated. If your body is not hydrated, your hair will be dry and brittle. If you are not sure whether it is safe to drink your tap water, invest in a water filter or buy bottled water. Water is not only important for your hair, but for your entire body as well.

3. Eat more eggs. Recently there has been an unprecedented revival of the egg. Whether you eat the whites or the yokes, eggs are an excellent source of protein, as well as biotin (a b-complex vitamin). Biotin is known to strengthen and improve the hair, nails and skin. It is essential to get enough biotin in your body if you want to have strong hair. Don't eat more than two eggs a day if you want to get the optimum amount of biotin and protein in your body.

4. Ditch the coffee and go with green tea. Great tea is excellent in promoting strong bones and teeth and a healthy liver, and it is also a superb remedy for reducing hair loss. Green tea reduces the amount of dihydrotestostorone (DHT) produced, and excess production of DHT is one of the leading causes of male pattern baldness. Drink at least three cups of green tea a day to maximize your chances of retaining your hair.

5. Combine these techniques with a healthy diet of fruits, vegetables, a good night's sleep and exercise, and you will be well on your way to growing thick lustrous locks. Remember that although hair loss can be genetic, there are ways to slow it down if not halt it by radically changing your lifestyle. Experiment with what works and what doesn't work for you. Allow at least three months to pass before expecting to notice any significant results.

What Is An Hsa Plan

A Health Savings Account (HSA) is a plan that enables you to put pre-tax dollars into an account to pay for health care costs and services.

HSA Plan Defined

An HSA Plan is a savings account, created through a health insurance company with pre-tax dollars which are set aside for medical costs. The money in an HSA plan can grow because it can be invested or simply remain in an interest-bearing account. The HSA plan was created to go along with a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP).

Benefit of an HSA Plan

The first obvious benefit of the HSA plan is that the money put into the account is pre-tax, saving the plan holder tax dollars right off the bat and maximizing his earned income. Another clear benefit of the HSA plan is the ability that it has to grow, the savings account can gain simple interest or growth by investment. One of the greatest benefits of the HSA plan is that unused funds can roll over year after year.

Use of HSA Plan Funds

An HSA plan is set up for medical expenses. Withdrawing HSA funds for approved medical expenses allows the plan holder to pay for his medical expenses with untaxed income. Some people believe that the HSA plan was designed for healthy people and is harmful to the health insurance industry as a whole because it takes the healthy people out of the pool. Zhen De Shou Side Effects

As with any new fad diet pill, there is always the concern of whether it could potentially be dangerous. Controversy surrounds Zhen De Shou, and many wonder if it is actually as safe as what providers claim it to be. In November of 2008, the FDA released a statement that Zhen De Shou contains an ingredient known as sibutramine. The effects associated with this particular ingredient is cause for reconsideration when consuming Zhen De Shou.

Sibutramine

The chemical properties of sibutramine are used to assist in weight loss. Though it has positive results in helping people lose weight, it does cause undesired side effects.

Earlier Signs Of Prostate Cancer

Most men don't experience any noticeable symptoms of prostate cancer during its early stages. Symptoms normally appear after the cancer has spread beyond the region of the prostate. When symptoms do occur, they depend on what stage the cancer is in. Earlier signs of prostate cancer are usually associated with urinary problems.

Earliest Signs

Early signs of prostate cancer include difficulty urinating, decreased force in the stream and trouble starting and stopping the stream.

Other Early Symptoms

Cancer in or around the area of the prostate can cause blood in the urine and semen. Other early symptoms include painful ejaculation, difficulty having an erection and pain or burning during urination.

More Progressed Symptoms

Signs that the cancer has spread to lymph nodes in the pelvic region include swelling in the legs and discomfort around the pelvic area.

Facts

The urinary problems normally associated with early stages of prostate cancer are much more likely to be caused by benign conditions, such as an enlarged prostate or infection of the prostate.

Considerations

The earlier signs of prostate cancer are also common symptoms of other diseases and conditions. Men with these symptoms should undergo testing to determine the cause of the symptoms.
