Relieve Sinus Pressure At Home

When you are suffering from a cold, the flu, a sinus infection or even allergies, you can start to feel a certain amount of pressure in your sinuses. Not only is this extremely uncomfortable, it can also lead to a relatively severe headache. To avoid the excruciating pain in your head and relieve that pressure in your sinuses, there are few easy things you can do to combat the problem.

Instructions

1. Start off by increasing the moisture level in your home. You can do this easily by using a humidifier or vaporizer in those rooms you most often use, including the living room, family room and bedroom.

2. Take a hot shower. The steam from a hot shower is an easy way to relieve sinus pressure.

3. Increase your fluid intake. This method of relieving sinus pressure is like treating the problem from the inside out. Having enough fluids in your body will keep the membranes of your nasal passages naturally moist and keep your mucus a "normal" consistency; this will prevent obstructions from forming that can add pressure to your sinuses.

4. Place a warm, moist towel on your face. Not only will this give you a little relief from the pressure you're experiencing in your sinuses, it will also add some moisture to your nasal passages.

5. Snort some salt water or a saline spray. This works a lot like increasing your fluid intake in that this method keeps the membranes of your nasal passages moist.

6. Take an antihistamine or a decongestant to reduce the swelling of the nasal passages, which can relieve the pressure being placed on the sinuses.
