Crestor, also available as a generic medication called rosuvastatin, is a prescription medication used to treat high cholesterol. It blocks the body's production of cholesterol to reduce bad cholesterol levels and increase good cholesterol levels. Doctors normally prescribe Crestor or rosuvastatin along with a change in diet and exercise to try and bring cholesterol levels into a healthier range.
Muscle Breakdown
In rare cases, Crestor and rosuvastatin can cause an extremely serious complication in which muscle tissue begins to breakdown, which can lead to kidney failure. If you notice muscle pain, tenderness or weakness, dark urine or a fever or other flu-like symptoms, call your doctor immediately.
Chest Pain
If you begin to experience chest pain while taking rosuvastatin or Crestor, call your doctor immediately.
