Herbal Cures For Ed

ED is a common shorthand for erectile dysfunction, a sexual condition that occurs in males who fail to achieve or maintain an erection. While the exact causes of ED are not fully understood, medical experts believe that in some cases, stress, anxiety, medications or certain medical conditions may contribute to problems. Several common herbs have grown more popular in the treatment of erectile dysfunction in recent years. Alternative medicine has used herbs and herbal treatments to offer relief for men diagnosed with ED for generations.

Ginseng and Gingko

Ginseng has been used in Asia for thousands of years to treat various ailments, and is used there, and in America, to treat erectile dysfunction. The herb is believed to enhance central nervous stimulation and function. Gingko is believed to increase and enhance circulation, hence an improved circulatory effect on the male organ.

DHEA

DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone) is a major component of sex hormone production that enhances or encourages production of testosterone. Inadequate levels of DHEA in the body is believed to a condition that negatively affects the sex drive due to lowered or decreased levels of testosterone. DHEA taken in supplement form is believed to increase levels of testosterone, which in turn stimulates the sex drive.

Yohimbe

Yohimbe is an herb of African origin, and comes from the bark of a tree. Herbs such as yohimbe increase blood flow to the pelvic region and also stimulates pelvic nerves. When used for ED, yohimbe blocks specific nerve receptors, allowing blood vessels (especially in the pelvic region) to fully dilate. The herb is well known to doctors, who offer a preparation of the herb as a first effort at treating ED.
