Varicose veins are raised knots of swollen blue or purple veins that show through the skin. They look unpleasant and are often painful. They form when valves within the veins lose their elasticity and balloon-like pockets develop in the vein walls. The pockets trap blood and cause inflammation and may cause minor clots. Varicose veins occur most often in the legs although they can occur in the arms as well. An estimated 24 million Americans suffer from varicose veins.

Treat Varicose Veins With Hydrotherapy
1. Consider hydrotherapy as a valuable option for the treatment of varicose veins. A study conducted at the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, University of Vienna, showed that hydrotherapy is effective and can ease the pain from swollen veins and improve walking. It is also convenient because you can use hydrotherapy in the comfort of your own home quite safely.
2. Try alternating hot and cold baths to stimulate circulation in the legs. Hydrotherapy uses the body's reaction to hot and cold stimulus to help lessen sensitivity to pain, increase and improve circulation and increase hormones.
3. Use two plastic buckets tall enough to soak the legs up to the knees. Fill one with water that is comfortably hot to soak in for a few minutes.
4. Fill the other bucket with the same amount of cold water.
5. Soak your feet and legs in hot water for about three minutes.
6. Soak your feet and legs in cold water for about 30 seconds.
7. Repeat three times finishing with a cold soak.
8. Use this hydrotherapy treatment once a day for at least one month to see positive results.
