Stop Depression

Depression can take over your entire life. But you do have the power to stop depression in its tracks. There are many methods of treating depression, and not all of them will be right for you, but with a little bit of research and some dedication, you can stop your depression for good.

Instructions

1. Acknowledge that you are depressed. Depression is not something to be ashamed of, but you can't start to feel better until you are no longer in denial about your depression.

2. Talk to a professional. Talking to a therapist about your depression is a great way to take the first steps towards ending your battle with depression. Therapists, psychologists, "shrinks": we have a lot of words to describe people who help us deal with our feelings, but they do well at their jobs. Talking to a therapist can be a wonderful first step towards dealing with depression.

3. Consider going on anti-depressants. Antidepressants can be a wonderful way to start to combat your depression. Talk to a doctor about going on antidepressants if you are interested in the possibility. There are sometimes complications with antidepressants and children, antidepressants and pregnacny, antidepressants and breastfeeding, and antidepressants and weight loss, so consider all of these factors before choosing an antidepressant.

4. Get back out into the world. With the help of therapy or antidepressants you might be ready to try to get out into the world. Focus on small projects that you can take control of, or get back to activities that you used to love.

5. You've already recognized that you were exhibiting signs of depression or symptoms of depression, and found treatments for depression and depression medication. Now take a minute to think about what truly makes you happy, so that you can avoid reoccurring depression.
