Wash My Face Right After A Facelift

Learn properly was your face after a face-lift to prevent infection or complications.

The most difficult part of face-lift surgery is the after-surgery care. Simple tasks like washing your face could interfere with sutures and staples, which can slow down healing if performed improperly. Your skin will feel swollen and extremely sensitive, so it is important to handle your face with care after a face-lift. Face-lift patients should keep their head elevated for 48 to 72 hours after surgery, so enlist the help of a caregiver to wash your face.

Instructions

1. Attend your follow-up visit with your surgeon so he can check your sutures and replace your dressing. Wait 24 hours after your follow-up visit to wash your face.

2. Ask your caregiver to place towels under your neck and chin while your head remains elevated. Avoid bending over or tilting your head down.

3. Wash your face gently with a towel dampened with cool water and a mild facial cleanser. Wash around stitches and drainage tubes to prevent them from coming out or rupturing your skin.

4. Pour a cup of cool water over your face to cleanse the soap. Repeat until you remove all traces of soap.

5. Pat your face dry with a clean dry towel.

6. Use a cotton swab soaked in hydrogen peroxide to clean dried blood and fluids near sutures. Dip the cotton swab in hydrogen peroxide solution and gently roll the cotton swab along the suture line. If one cotton swab doesn't remove it all, use new cotton swabs to remove all the remaining matter.

7. Continue this routine daily until your surgeon advises you to resume your regular bathing procedure.
