Clean Plaque At Home

Plaque is a thin, colorless coating created by bacteria which builds up on the teeth and gums. If not removed frequently, this plaque can cause dental afflictions, such as cavities and gingivitis. While checking up with a dentist periodically is very important, habitual home care to supplement these visits is just as vital.

Instructions

1. Cut off around 18 inches of floss from your dispenser, and wrap each end several times around your middle fingers, leaving a usable length. Put the length into the space between two teeth, and wrap the floss against one tooth, forming a C. Rub up and down with the floss, never breaking the gum line. Repeat until all spaces between your teeth have been flossed.

2. Apply water and toothpaste to your toothbrush. Place your toothbrush at a 45-degree angle to your gumline and brush in a circular motion, polishing two to three teeth at a time. Do this to the inside and outside surfaces of all of your teeth.

3. Place the brush directly on top of your back molars, and gently polish with a back and forth movement several times.

4. Rinse your brush and gently scrub your tongue, including the back. Rinse your mouth vigorously.

5. Pour a small mouthful of anti-cavity fluoride rinse into your mouth. Swish the liquid vigorously around your mouth for 30 seconds and spit. Do not swallow.
