Fecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) is a test that detects blood in the stool, which is a sign for colorectal cancer. The chemical in the test card reacts with the hemoglobin molecules found in red blood cells. Instructions
1. Ask your doctor to send you a Fecal Immunochemical Test kit. Read carefully the instructions provided by the test kit on collect specimen.
2. Use the test after you have a bowel movement. Use one of the brushes provided by the test kit to brush the tool. Put the brush into one of the slots in the . Write your name and the date on the kit.
3. Repeat the test 3 times using a different bowel movement each time. This increases the accuracy of the test.
4. Send the test kit back to the laboratory, preferably within 2 weeks of the first sample.
