Stretch For Carpal Tunnel Relief

Carpal tunnel syndrome can cause pain and numbness throughout the thumb, index and middle fingers. If caught early, exercises can relieve the pain from the median nerve and loosen the tunnel in which it lies. Here's stretch for carpal tunnel relief.

Instructions

1. Place the palm of the affected hand flat against a wall with all five fingers spread. Fully extend the arm and take several deep breaths. Slowly turn your head towards the opposite side and take another deep breath. Hold the stretch and return your head forward.

2. Put both hands together in front of your face, palms touching in a traditional prayer position. Slowly bring the hands straight down to the middle of the chest until you feel the stretch in your wrists.

3. Move your hands to the right while keeping both palms flush, and then move them to the left. Move your hands as far as far as you can without pain. Hold each stretch for a few seconds while breathing deeply.

4. Make two fists and place them on top of a flat surface with your thumbs pointing up. Flex the closed fist to the right then to the left while the forearm lies against the table. Lift your arms off the table and move your fists in small circles.

5. Open your fists. Place your fingertips on the edge of a table while keeping them close together. Slowly bring the wrists down towards the floor but keep the fingertips on the table edge. Repeat the same stretch but spread the fingers apart.
