Naturally Treat Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a medical disorder that affects at least 10 percent of the population. The most common symptoms include upset stomach, nausea, flatulence and loose stools. IBS is an uncomfortable and often embarrassing problem. Luckily, it can be treated with a few simple daily changes to your lifestyle.

Instructions

1. Increase the amount of fiber in your diet. This promotes regular, healthy bowel movements. Some good foods to eat are apples, brussels sprout, whole grains and all kinds of beans. However, beans should be avoided if gas is one of your symptoms.

2. Reduce the amount of stress in your life. Stress is believed to be a cause of irritable bowel syndrome. Take at least 30 minutes out of each day to relax and take your mind off of everything. Exercise and hobbies are also good methods of reducing stress.

3. Avoid foods that commonly cause allergic reactions. These foods include dairy products, cabbage, candy and all types of sweet desserts. Caffeine and alcohol are also good to avoid if you are experiencing IBS symptoms.
