Get The Daily Recommended Allowance Of Meat

If you want to make sure you are eating healthy you must get the appropriate servings of the four major food groups in to your body. One of those groups is the meat group. Meat is the best food for building up your body and for repairing it when needed. Each human being is suggested to take in 2 or more servings of meat per day. Here are some great ways to the daily recommended allowance of meat.

Instructions

1. Identify what is a meat. Since we now know we need two or more servings of meat per day we need to find out what foods are in the meat group. You can probably figure out that chicken, turkey, pork, venison, and meats that come from cows are included in this category. What you may not realize is that eggs, fish, and beans also belong in the meat category.

2. The importance of changing up what you eat from day to day. Meats in general are high in fat. You don't want to solely rely on animal meats for your servings each day. Consider switching up your meats with eggs, fish, and beans. Eggs have a lot of cholesterol which we all know clogs the blood. Fish is lower in fat than meat, but doesn't build up your blood as well as animal meats. Beans are the same as fish in that they are not good at building up your blood. You see each of these foods has a strength and a weakness. That is why it is important not to eat the same meat day in and day out. Your body really requires a variety in order to stay it's healthiest.

3. Create a weekly menu. This is when you want to get out your local supermarket flyers, paper, and a pen. Take a look at your meat circular to see what is on sale for the week. If ground beef is on sale, plan one night of meatloaf. If you can get two bags of beans for $1.00, plan one night for a bean burrito. If you can get a turkey, you can use the leftovers from dinner to make a turkey sandwich for lunch the next day. Make sure you have 2 meats on your list for each day and when you see what you need you can go right to the store and make your weekly purchase.

4. Make sure each day has two meats. If you have egg salad for lunch and a piece of BBQ chicken for dinner you have successfully eaten your daily allowance of meats for the day. Remember that sometimes we get our serving of meats at breakfast time. Often we have eggs and bacon or eggs and spam. That would equal our two servings right there and we should then think about having pasta for dinner (grains group). If you are planning on having salmon for dinner, when you eat your eggs for breakfast don't eat any bacon or sausage. Instead have a hash brown and a piece of fruit.

5. Be creative. There are tons of ways you can mix and match foods. The important thing is to start paying attention to how much food is going in to your body and is it balanced enough. Making the lists I spoke of earlier will help a lot. Once you decide on the meats you want for the week you can research recipes from your favorite cook book. That will help to make sure you never get bored of the foods you are eating, which will in turn keep you on the track to success.
