Bone To Loose Teeth

Gum disease is the primary cause of loose teeth and bone loss, according to the American Dental Association. Once gum disease becomes entrenched in a patient's mouth, tooth repair, bridgework and tooth replacement by an oral surgeon may be necessary. Slowing the damage is the first step. By talking with your dentist and following these steps, you can build bone density in loose teeth.

Instructions

1. Discuss your loose teeth with a dentist who can review your case and recommend a treatment plan. Treatments can include a prescription for a calcium hormone supplement such as Calcitonin, a man-made thyroid hormone that elevates the calcium level in bones and the bloodstream. Costly treatments such as bone grafting on teeth are performed by an oral surgeon specializing in tooth repair and regeneration, which is another option you can discuss with your dentist.

2. Take a calcium supplement and consume at least 1,500 mg of calcium through the supplement and through foods each day.

3. Take a Vitamin D supplement daily to encourage bone growth.

4. Use calcium-enriched toothpaste and leave it on your teeth for 10 minutes twice daily to strengthen loose teeth and build bone.

5. Floss and brush your teeth twice daily to prevent gum disease and stop it from worsening, which can hasten bone loss in the teeth.
