Make Body Powder

Body powder is a soothing way to finish a bath. Or, you can use it to relieve chafed body parts. You can make your own body powder with a few basic ingredients in just a matter of minutes. Homemade body powder in a decorative shaker also makes a great gift. Read on to learn more.

Instructions

1. Choose the essential oils you want to use in your body powder. If you want to make something to help relieve your stress, consider lavender. Ylang ylang, rosemary, and peppermint all have stimulating effects. There are many other options as well.

2. Consider any medicinal effects you want from your body powder. For example, tea tree offers some deodorizing and antifungal action. Peppermint is a great pick-me-up for tired, sore, achy feet.

3. Think about combining scents. Work out your favorite combinations before you mix the body powder. Or, you can just stick with one scent.

4. Gather your materials to make the body powder. You need a plastic bag and essential oil scents. You also need a shaker of some sort to put your finished product in. Find salt-and-pepper shakers at a dollar store that you can use for this purpose.

5. Mix the body powder. Put one cup of cornstarch and one tablespoon of the essential oil you chose into a zippered, plastic bag. Shake the mixture until the essential oil is no longer forming lumps. The body powder should be silky smooth when you are finished mixing it.

6. Use the body powder right away. Or, you can store any leftover body powder in an airtight container.
