WebTV, now usually referred to as MSN TV, allows users to browse the Internet from their home television. A subscription to the WebTV service automatically comes with a free, personalized WebTV email account. The major downfall of WebTV email is that it's difficult to access from a home computer, which can be frustrating when you're away from home. With a few adjustments to the settings, however, you can access your WebTV mail from any computer, provided you have a Hotmail account.
Instructions
1. Go to the WebTV homepage and click the Settings link. Select Mail from the Settings screen.
2. Click Remote mail on the new page and then the Remote WebTV mail option.
3. Type in the designated box a password to gain access to your mail. Type your password one more time in the password confirmation box.
4. Check the Allow remote access box and click Continue to move on. Click Done on the next page to move on.
5. Sign in to the Hotmail email account that you want to associate with your WebTV email account.
6. Click on POP Mail link on the left side of the window. Type pop.webtv.net in the blank POP server name box. Click Continue to move on.
7. Type in your WebTV user name and password in the designated boxes and click Continue.
8. Set the server timeout number to 90 and the port number to 110. Click Continue to move on.
9. Select an icon for your mail if desirable and click OK to finish the process.
