Old intertherm blower motor problem

Old Intertherm Blower Motor Problem

Our furnace is in an old '73 trailer. It's a Intertherm furnace with a bracket built around the motor. I took it out and cleaned years of dust off the old thing and out of the squirrel cage. After reinstalling it, it now makes a knocking noise when it is getting power. When the power cuts out and the cage is still spinning the noise stops. It only happens when it is being fed electricity. I noticed the motor itself was too hot to the touch as well! The filters were not properly installed and I swapped out the old ones for new and fit the filters better. I am afraid I'm going to have to get a new motor that may not be made anymore. Our electric bill SKYROCKED last month which prompted me to clean it. And finally, I think our bill is already where it was last month half way into this next month. Any help would be greatly appreciated Should I just call a tech and choke on the service bill?? A sky rocketing electric bill would point to a heat strip problem. Probably also need a motor and capacitor. What is a heat strip? I'm kinda fix it stupid. Electric heat (strips) are usually controlled by a heat sequencer. These heat sequencers can fail in the closed position which would cause the electric heat strips to become energized until repair is performed. Electric heat strips use 3 times (or more) the electricity that the motor will use.
