Which Tile Cutter/Wet Saw do you recommend?
I'm quickly becoming a DIY'er and my upcoming projects is to design and install a tile backsplash in the kitchen. After that, I'll need to do 2 tile bathrooms. So I'm thinking that I should maybe invest in purchasing the necessary tools to do all this tile work. What do you think and what/which tools would you recommend? i have a small and inexpensive ($100) wet saw i got from HD years ago. it worked great, until i borrowed it out and they broke it. i didn't want to borrow it to my sis in law, i said they were going to break it. wife said i was crazy. a few years later, when i went to use it, and found it broken (the fence), we found out just who was crazy. yes, it was me, for borrowing it out. moral of this story =DON'T borrow out your tools !!! unless you don't care about either, getting back broken tools, or not getting them back at all. All depends on your budget and type of tile and size you are wanting. A good all around saw would be the Felker TM-75. It's about $350+ but a good saw. You could use it for your projects, then sell it. You will probably get almost all the money back. Don't expect to cut porcelain or another dense stone with those $88 HD or Lowes specials. We had a 4 saw we picked up at Menards for about $100. It worked okay, but we got wet in the process. We upgraded to the 10 saw from Harbor Freight (on sale for $199) and couldn't be happier. I'm sure it would not stand up to every day contractor use, but it's a couple years old and working fine with us using it every month or two. I agree when i will have my own saw i will not borrow it lol. Any way i find a good saw which i am planing to buy. It is available on this site NoAds. I also searched on the ebay site and found a lots of saws which made me confused so I decided to go for the previous one. There is one more option that I can check local market for second hand. craigslist ............................
