Caulk not adhering to shower stall

Ok.. have an interesting one here... Multiple times I have used the standard white caulk normally used for sealing the bottom of shower stalls (where walls meet the tub) and have insured that the surface is both clean and dry, but after a few showers the caulk starts coming off. Is there a special caulk that is needed for these fiberglass (assume that is what it is) stalls? You should be using a good silicone, not caulk. GE Silicone II is a good one. As you know it has to be dry front and back for it to work. If there is any water behind it, mold will grow under the silicone.. What brand caulk did you use? Believe it was DAP that I used. Will look for GE Silicone II .. Assume it comes in white... Thanks Dap is a caulk and is not waterproof at all. I would suggest the GE Silicone II in white. Dap was water clean up, silicone won't be, so be prepared. Interesting about DAP.. it says on the package it can be used on sinks.. etc.. Thanks.. will try the GE silicone II DAP has several different caulks. I don't know if they have any silicone caulk or not, I quit using DAP caulk years ago because of too many failures. Their Alex caulk is probably their most used caulk among diyers...... but it's poor garbage, I don't think you could find a more inferior caulk. I agree a silicone caulk is best although there are several acrylic latex caulks rated for bath rm use - they may hold up better than your everyday run of the mill caulk but they are still inferior to silicone. I guess you could go with an elastomeric caulk, since it will give and take. It is water clean up. I agree with Marksr, I have had a lot of problems with DAP products and won't use them. I like GE Silicone II. I seems to me that wiping the caulk gaps with denatured alcohol prior to caulking improves adhesion. Several years ago I had a glass block wall set on some sort of cast shower base. I first caulked after cleaning and drying. The caulk line was leaking in just a few days. I re did it after the alcohol cleaning and it has been in use for years now.
