labor-cost-to-install-carpet

Labor cost to install carpet??

what can I expect to pay to have carpet installed in a 1400 sq foot house?? Just the labor. I take it places like Home Depot or Lowes will be considerably higher? My wife said (haven't seen for myself) that the carpet at Home Depot is really cheap priced, but the labor to install it is insane. I am going to use a local carpet place that has been in business in our area since 1958 ! Remember this for instalation: YOU ONLY GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! Make sure you have a qualified installer.Good is not cheap and cheap is not always good. you can find a qualified installer here. http://www.cfi-installers.org/Member...taller_NEW.asp That is going to be a hard question to answer. It is going to depend on a couple of things. The region you live in. The skill of the installer, and if your in a rural or metro area. Home Depot here charges .88ў for installation and cushion, plus tax. I charge .27ў for rebond cushion(7/16, 6# or 1/4, 8#) I charge .50ў per sq.ft for basic stretch in installation of cut pile carpets up to 40 oz. face weight I charge .61ў per sq.ft. for face weights over 40 oz. I charge .61ў per sq.ft. for basic berber/loop pile carpet, stretch in installation. Any pattern matching what so ever incurs a .22ў per sq.ft. up charge. I charge .17ў per sq.ft. to take up old stretch in carpet. I charge .13ў per sq.ft. haul-off and dump fee. T seams are billed at $5 per linear ft. Stair incur a separate labor fee or $150 minimum staircase charge. Bathrooms and unsanitary places incur a $50 set additional fee. I have a $85 Minimum Charge WARRANTY: We guarantee the installation of all carpeting to be free from defects in workmanship for the manufacturers rated appearance retention life of the materials. Unless abuse, misuse, or improper cleaning is detected by an independent licensed flooring inspector. I cannot have a one price fits all pricing tier. Time is money and my pricing reflects the extra time needed to perform the installation to industry standards or above. Thanks, so I should only use someone that is certified by the link listed above? What if the persons name didn't come up? We only checked one place so far. We live in Georgia, metro area. This particular place gave us a price per square foot. It included the carpet, pad (7/16, suggested by manufacture) , labor, hauling off the old carpet, moving furniture, etc. Everything. They said once we decided on a carpet, they would come out and measure and see what needed to be done and then give an estimate. Most of the carpet samples we have now are in the $2.50-$2.85 price range per square foot. Yes, the link above... CFIinstallers.com Make sure the installer you interview is at least an R-2 certification. R-1 are what I consider apprenticeship levels.
