Herbal Remedies For Fatty Liver

Fatty liver is the result of poor diet, lack of exercise and alcohol consumption. Fatty liver is typically the first stage in liver damage and could be followed by liver fibrosis or even cirrhosis of the liver. Luckily, there are many herbal remedies for treating fatty liver that are effective in reversing the damage.


Barberry


Barberry aids in nourishing the liver and helping the liver function properly. Barberry can be taken as a supplement, 400 mg daily. Side effects can include toxicity if taken in too large of a dose. It can cause miscarriage, so pregnant women should avoid taking barberry.


Cascara Sagrada


Cascara Sagrada works as a digestive aid and helps support the liver. It can also be taken in tincture form, up to 1 mL per day. Cascara Sagrada should not be used by pregnant women and can cause diarrhea if used too frequently.


Dandelion








Dandelion is an extremely powerful liver cleanser and can be eaten raw or taken as a tincture or supplement. Take 5 to 10 mL per day in tincture form. Dandelion's side effects can include digestive troubles and dermatitis.


Gentian Root


Gentian root aids digestion and helps the liver function properly. Gentian root can be taken as a supplement, 3 to 6g per day. Side effects can include mild headaches.


Golden Seal


Golden seal is a liver cleanser and purifier. It can be taken in supplement form, 4 to 6 grams per day. Side effects can include digestive problems and nervousness, and should not be taken by pregnant women.
