Herbal Shampoo For Hair Loss

Most shampoos do a fine job of cleaning your hair and scalp, but they also contain harsh chemicals that can strip your hair of essential oils that promote health and shine. Dry, damaged hair can lead to hair loss. Herbal shampoos, on the other hand, rely on natural ingredients that maintain these essential oils and promote nourished hair and a healthy scalp. Here are some simple shampoo recipes you can make at home that use rosemary, lavender and peppermint to invigorate the scalp and nourish hair.

Rosemary

For a good all-purpose shampoo, combine 2 tablespoons of dried rosemary and 2 teaspoons of liquid soap in 20 ounces of distilled water. Rosemary is a natural hair follicle stimulant that prevents both hair loss and the onset of gray hair. Rosemary also holds thinness in check and can prevent dandruff.

Lavender

Another option is to combine 2 tablespoons of dried lavender to your liquid soap and distilled water. Lavender not only promotes hair growth, like rosemary, but it also balances oil production, replenishing the scalp and the hair. For a super-shampoo, combine the lavender and the rosemary to prevent hair loss and promote all-around hair and scalp health.

Peppermint

For an even more powerful shampoo, add 2 tablespoons of dried peppermint (if using peppermint oil, use only a few drops) to the rosemary-lavender mix. Peppermint will make the shampoo smell fantastic and, because it is an astringent, it will normalize oily hair and an oily scalp. It also fights dandruff and lice and has a general cooling effect on the head. Because of these factors, peppermint is believed to prevent or slow down hair loss.
