Clean Contact Lenses With No Solution

Having contact lenses can be very handy. Not only do they make you look good, they are also easy to carry. Contacts also require a bit of maintenance. Most people who wear contact lenses clean them every day with a special contact solution. What happens when you run out of solution at an odd hour of the night, or when you forget solution on vacation? There are some simple ways to clean your contacts when you don't have contact cleaning solution.

Instructions

1. Wash your hands. If you have no contact solution, you will have to improvise a bit. Since your cleaning method will not be ideal, you need to make sure to eliminate absolutely every other opportunity for irritants to get into your eyes. Wash your hands in warm soapy water for at least 30 seconds, and rinse.

2. Take out your contacts. Once you remove your contacts, you can either place them in your contact holder if you have that available, or use your clean hand to hold them.

3. Pour water into one of your hands and rub your contact around in the water. Water can work as a temporary cleaning agent. If you have purified water, or bottled water, however, it works best. You don't want mineral deposits on your contacts if you can avoid it.

4. Use saline solution to clean your contacts. Saline solution is another option for those caught without contact cleaning solution. Back in the old days, saline solution was used to clean contacts. Simply use it like you would regular contact solution.

5. Squirt some Visine in your hands and wash your contacts with it. Visine is another temporary cleaning agent for contacts. It is typically used to calm irritated eyes, so it should not bother your eyes once you put your contacts back in.
