Constipation occurs when there is a backup of fecal matter in the colon. This can range from mild to severe. In some instances, this can last for a long time and lead to other health related issues. In the short term or long term, abdominal pain is almost always a sure thing to happen. This can also be mild to severe depending on how long you have been constipated or how backed up you are. The way to relieve abdominal pain is by eliminating the colon of this backed up matter.
Instructions
1. Take a fiber supplement. Fiber supplements come in the form of powders, pills, liquids and chewable tablets. They can be added to food, mixed in juice, or just chewed up and swallowed. Psyllium husks is a common type of powder supplement.
2. Eat more fiber in your diet. This comes with a lot of benefits. One of those benefits is that it helps aid elimination by causing softer stools that are easier to pass. The National Academy of Sciences Institute of Medicine recommends that men 50 and younger get 38 g a day and women 50 and younger get 25 g a day. Some examples of fiber rich foods are fruits, vegetables, whole grains, oat bran and beans.
3. Try an oral stimulant. These help promote contractions of the muscles inside the intestinal walls, which leads to stool eliminations. An example of this type of product is Ex-Lax.
4. Get a colonic. This is a process where an instrument called a speculum is inserted into the rectum. Warm water is then infused into your colon, irrigating it of backed up fecal matter and debris. As the water is going in, another tube carries the waste products away.
5. Try some ginger. The most common way to take ginger is in the form of tea. It has been known to alleviate stomach discomfort and aid in digestion. It can also be found in the form of tinctures, tablets, capsules or even fresh.
