If you are having breathing problems that are caused by a cold, virus, asthma or bronchial issue, you can use the posture to help restore the body's natural energies. The exercise should be conducted daily until you experience optimal health.
First, sit on the floor while resting your buttocks on the back of your calves; keep your back straight and your feet pointed backward. Rest your hands on your knees; this is called the Vajrasana posture. Now slowly spread your knees apart from one another. Bring your hands backward and touch your toes if you are able, but don't strain yourself in doing so. Now you will need to concentrate on your breathing: relax, keep your eyes closed and listen to yourself breathing in and out slowly. This position helps to expand the diaphragm to enable you to draw more air deeply into your lungs so that you can strengthen your lung power and get vital oxygen to your cells with greater ease and efficiency.
