Cure A Urine Infection

Urinary tract infections affect millions yearly. Urinary tract infections or UTI’s are more common in women than men. The urinary system includes the kidneys, bladder, ureters, and urethra. Bacteria are the most common cause of urinary tract infections in any of the systems. People with abnormalities of the urinary tract, those with diabetes, and anyone who needs the use of a catheter are more prone to urinary tract infections. Some symptoms of UTI’s are frequent urination, burning or pain during urination, and only passing a small amount of urine even though you still feel like you need to do more. The urine itself can be cloudy or milky, and even a reddish color if blood is present with the infection. You may also feel unusually fatigued. If you are suffering from any of these symptoms you should seek medical treatment so as to cure the urinary tract infection.

Instructions

Cure a Urinary Tract Infection

1. The doctor will determine the presence of a UTI by having you urinate in a cup and then testing the urine for infection and bacteria. Once the confirmation has been made you will start treatment. Most often UTI’s are treated with antibacterial drugs such as trimethoprim, bactrim, amoxicillin, and ampicillin. There are other drugs in this class also used. Most UTI’s will clear up within a few days, but doctors ask that patients continue on the medication for a week or two.

2. If someone has a UTI that involves the kidneys a hospital stay is often called for. While in the hospital they will be given antibiotic treatment until the infection is cleared and they can take fluids and medication on their own.

3. Self help treatments include heating pads, drinking plenty of fluids including water and cranberry juice, rest, and dietary changes. People with urinary tract infections should avoid coffee, spicy foods, and alcohol. Smokers are encouraged to quit, not only helping with urinary tract infections, but also because smoking is a contributor to bladder cancer.Following the treatment guidelines your doctor prescribes will cure the urinary tract infection.
