Make Rinestone Jewelry

Rhinestone jewelry sparkles and shines without costing as much as precious gemstone jewelry. Making your own rhinestone jewelry at home provides you with a long-lasting hobby that gives you one-of-a-kind creations to wear and give as gifts. Making your own rhinestone jewelry involves using a wide range of materials, and depending on your level of creativity, you can create intricate works of art or simple jewelry pieces that shimmer.

Instructions

1. Snip a length of thin gauge jewelry wire from the roll. Depending on the kind of jewelry you are making, cut it at an appropriate length. For example, a loose-fitting necklace requires that about 16 inches of wire from the roll, while a bracelet requires 8 inches.

2. Tie off one end of the wire to a jewelry finding, such as a toggle piece or a wire ring. First, tie the very end of the wire around the loop of the jewelry finding, then double the knot. Squeeze a dot of glue onto the knot to keep it in place.

3. Slide a rhinestone bead down the length of wire until it rests atop the knotted end. Repeat this step with an assortment of rhinestone beads until you achieve a row that you are satisfied with.

4. Slide a spacer bead down the length of the wire. Spacer beads provide accent and allow you to save the amount of rhinestone beads you use. You can also create a design using rhinestone and spacer beads. For example, for every three rhinestone beads, use a spacer bead, and alternate with this pattern.

5. Tie off the end of the wire to the jewelry finding that matches the one at the other end of the wire. This can be a circle clamp, a lobster clasp or even a toggle. Do this after the entire length of wire is beaded with rhinestones and spacer beads.
