Antibiotic Properties Of Garlic Tablets







Garlic tablets are manufactured for both humans and animals.


Garlic, a potent ingredient found in many garlic supplements, contains a major antibiotic compound called allicin, which is released once raw garlic is crushed or sliced. It's where many of garlic's medicinal benefits are derived. According to Web MD, this compound is so fragile and unstable that it dissipates quickly. But if broken down into more compounds, such as when developed for drugs, remains effective.


Allicin


Allicin is known as a pythonutrient that helps combat the common cold and flu, among other illnesses. The compound also is known as an antioxidant. It is only released once fresh garlic has been crushed. Cooking, aging or decomposition of garlic destroys its allicin properties. Most garlic supplements don't contain allicin but only allicin potential.








Ajoene


Ajoene is responsible for garlic's odor and flavor. Ajoene has shown significant effectiveness when used topically for patients with carcinoma and has been documented in clinical studies as an effective compound for treating patients with acute myeloid leukemia, according to the National Center for Biotechnology Information. More studies are being done to evaluate the role of ajoene in treating cancer. This allicin by-product also is found in many antifungal treatments as it's effective against athlete's foot, according to Web MD.


Organosulfur Compounds


Garlic produces three organosulfur compounds known as Diallyl Sulfide, Diallyl Disulfide and Diallyl Trisulfide that aid in detoxification. These compounds are present in garlic oil, which is found in many garlic tablets and supplements. These compounds also are known as protective agents, helping reverse the development of carcinogenesis, according to The Journal of Nutrition.
