Identify Symptoms Of Sinus Polyp Headaches

Sinus polyps are grape-like nodules that occurs in the nasal passages and/or lining. They are usually non-cancerous, seen primarily in adults and can cause headaches. When they do occur in children, which is rare, it may be an early warning sign of cystic fibrosis. Polyps are usually treated medically first with cortisone treatment and if this course is unsuccessful, surgery to remove the polyps may be necessary.

Instructions

Identify the Symptoms of Sinus Polyp Headaches

1. Know that a the major symptom of a Sinus Polyp Headaches are dull, frequent headaches that seem to occur due to increased sinus pressure. This major characteristic is often accompanied by other symptoms that occur when polyps are the root of the headache.

2. Go to the doctor and let him or her know about your symptoms on top of the headache. If they are mouth breathing, continuous running nose, constant blocked feeling within the nasal passages, sinus infections, snoring and loss of smell, then polyps may be at the cause of your headaches as well as these symptoms.

3. Understand how your symptoms may be early warning signs of polyps. The headaches may be a nuisance and not necessary life threatening, but can be treated relatively easily with surgery. If you have an intolerance to aspirin (wheezing, throat swelling and nasal discharge) when these headaches onset as well as asthma, polyps may complete what is called the Samter's Triad.
