Deep Penetrating Light Therapy

Deep Penetrating Light Therapy

Deep penetrating light (DPL) therapy helps skin look younger, provides pain relief, and helps naturally boost the skin's healing process for wounds. It also helps to soften and tighten the skin, as well as being used as an anti-aging treatment. DPL uses multiple wavelengths and can be adjusted to cover and treat small or larger areas, up to 63 square inches.

How DPL Therapy Works

Deep penetrating light therapy uses infrared and red LED lights that are emitted from a special light therapy unit. The infrared light helps stimulate production of elastin and collagen in the skin to help it to look younger, more toned and softer. This infrared light goes through the outer epidermis layer of the skin and goes deeper to stimulate the dermis layer below. The short term effects of this kind of therapy are noticeable through the skin tightening caused by collagen contraction, which gives the skin a smoother, younger looking appearance. The long term effects can be noted by reduction of small to medium wrinkles and acne scars throughout the treated area.

Skin Uses

DPL therapy can help to heal burns, skin damage, and stimulates the healing process within the skin. People have used DPL for skin issues such as correcting damage due to aging, smoking, extreme weather, overexposure to the sun, acne, and scar tissue. DPL increases circulation in the treated area which helps stimulate the healing process within the skin by bringing oxygen and nutrient rich blood to the area. It also stimulates collagen production to help lower scar tissue formation from skin trauma or burns. Collagen helps keep skin smooth, firm, and looking healthy. Regular scar tissue usually lacks the normal amounts of collagen, which is why the scar tissue is so course and tough. DPL therapy also helps to keep the skin healthy.

Pain Management Uses

People have used DPL for pain related to burns, arthritis, sprains, tendinitis, torn muscle tissue, wounds, cuts, nerve damage, broken bones, and fibromyalgia. To use the DPL for pain, you can attach the device to the body with straps. For pain management, the unit is usually attached to the skin, but it can also be placed close to the effected area that you are treating for pain.

Treatment Session

The unit can be attached to the area that you desire to treat with a strap or you can place the unit near the skin. Treatment sessions last about 30 to 40 minutes a day. Push the power button on and listen for the beep before the lights come on. The unit will shut itself off after about 17 minutes. If more time is needed, just hit the power button again and start another cycle.

DPL Therapy Equipment

DPL therapy equipment is produced by LED Technologies and can be purchased from several online sources and some specialty stores.
