What Are The Benefits Of Red Wine Yeast

For many years now, doctors have been suggesting that one glass of red wine a day is beneficial to our health. They have pointed out that the yeast in red wine has benefits for your heart and your stomach, and has helped many people with certain medical conditions. Knowing the benefits of red wine yeast can help you decide if you want to integrate red wine into your diet.

Diabetes

Diabetes is a growing problem in America. As much of America is turning obese, more and more people are getting diabetes. Even people who have avoided diabetes often develop hypoglycemia, which can be a difficult disease to control. Studies have shown that red wine yeast has been beneficial to some people with diabetes. It has helped stabilized their blood sugar and has helped people with hypoglycemia go longer between meals without feeling sick or weak. However, do not replace standard diabetes treatments with red wine yeast.

Heart Conditions

Heart disease is the number one killer of people in America. This statistic only becomes more severe as the rate of obesity rises. Many drugs can help treat coronary heart disease, but red wine yeast may help do this naturally. In 2009, clinical trials were being conducted to test the usefulness of red wine yeast in treating severe coronary heart disease. Early results have been promising, showing that it may help reduce the risk of coronary heart disease and even the severity of any current disease. However, it is still too early to know for sure, and red wine should never replace conventional treatments.

Digestive Stimulant

Many people drink red wine after eating because they have found that it helps with their digestion. Red wine yeast helps to stimulate the metabolism and speed up the digestion. It also helps soothe an upset stomach by neutralizing some of the stomach acids that lead to indigestion and heartburn. One glass of red wine every night is a good idea if you suffer from chronic upset stomach. However, you should never replace conventional upset stomach treatments with red wine.

Lowers Cholesterol

As America suffers from more and more obesity, high cholesterol is becoming a huge problem. This isn't helped by the fact that many of our favorite foods, from potato chips to hot dogs, are high in cholesterol. There are many healthy foods that lower cholesterol and red wine yeast is one of them. In red yeast there is a chemical called lovastatin. This chemical has been shown over and over again to decrease overall cholesterol. The FDA has recently approved a drug that uses lovastatin as the primary ingredient in a cholesterol lowering drug. The drug is concentrated, but it is the same chemical that is in red wine.

Cancer Effects

One of the biggest benefits of red wine yeast is its effect on cancer. Red wine yeast has been shown to slow down the growth of tumors. This isn't to say that red wine yeast is a cure for cancer or that it can completely stop the growth of tumors; it simply slows down the growth of tumors. This is useful in situations where someone has a tumor that is growing but he can't get to a doctor soon. This slowing effect can help limit the growth of the tumor until it is time for an operation. However, red wine yeast should not be used to replace conventional cancer treatments.
