Confront Someone With Signs Of Anorexia

Anorexia is an eating disorder that disrupts the lives of women as well as men everyday. There are certain signs to be aware of when you believe that your friend or child is suffering from this problem. Throwing up and eating very little are the most common signs of this disorder. Other warnings may be consuming diet pills or pushing their food around so it looks like they are eating. Most people with this condition do not want others to know, so they try to hide it well. If you feel that a loved one is experiencing Anorexia, there are ways to discuss this with them.

Instructions

1. Be discreet. People with anorexia are usually ashamed and saddened with this disorder. When first confronting your loved one, be sure to use a quiet place. Create an environment that is free from other people and distractions that might hinder an open conversation.

2. Talk to her. Ask her if anything is going on in her life. She may open up about feelings of sadness or depression. If so, ask her why. Do not initially bring up your thoughts and fears about her anorexia disorder. It will be more helpful if she tells you first.

3. Confront your loved one. If step 2 does not receive any results, explain your feelings. Have a kind demeanor with your tone as well as your words. Explain to her that you are worried and wish to understand what she is feeling. Explain to her that you have been noticing changes in her behavior and are concerned about her health.

4. Ask your loved one to see a counselor or another professional. Tell her that you feel that a professional may be the only way to help the disorder. Suggest that you make the appointment and will go with her.

5. Promise to be there. Give her support, love and a shoulder to cry on. Be strong for her, yet kind and sincere.
