Heal A Scar

In addition to being an obvious reminder of a past injury, a scar can be a permanent and unsightly blemish. However, there are things that can be done to lessen the visibility of scars or remove them completely. Here's heal a scar.

Instructions

1. Use a skin conditioner. Scars from minor scrapes can often be effectively treated by applying cocoa butter or vitamin E to the skin a few times a day once the wound has healed. Other skin-conditioning creams can also be used, as the goal is to the keep the skin moist and not allow it to dry out.

2. Protect the scar from sunlight. Sunlight can damage healthy skin; it can be even worse for skin that is trying to heal itself. If you must spend time outside, cover your healing scar with a band-aid or gauze. This will prevent the delicate healing skin from being damaged by the sun.

3. Use silicone sheets. Silicone sheets are also another scar treatment. According to the package directions, these sheets can help to flatten a scar and lessen its visible impact.

4. Visit a dermatologist. For more serious scars or for scars that are on a more visible area of the body such as the face, it might be wise to consult a professional. A dermatologist will evaluate your scar and determine what treatments will be most effective in lessening its visibility. Possible treatments may include the uses of chemicals or laser therapy.

5. Eat right. No matter what treatment options you are pursuing, eating well can help to heal your scar. Consume foods that are high in vitamin E and antioxidants, as these aid in skin regeneration.
