Accupressure For Wrist Pain

When experiencing wrist pain, using acupressure may help relieve your suffering. Acupressure is a form of alternative medicine.

Points in the Body

Acupressure is a therapeutic technique that involves pressing certain points on your body, using either your fingers, the palms of your hands or you knuckles to apply the pressure. When pressing on these accupuncture points, it can relieve pain, reduce stress and promote general good health, according to True and Useful Eponym.

Inflamed Wrist Joints

Wrist pain is often the result of recurring strain that is put on the wrist when you do a certain activity over and over, such as typing. Wrist pain can be the result of carpal tunnel syndrome, where the inflamed tissues in the wrist compress the medial nerve inside the wrist.

Pain Relief

Acupressure is a good way to relieve this type of pain. This approach works by stimulating active points that are believed to lead to the release of endorphins. Endorphins help reduce pain and induce a sensation of happiness. Endorphins are natural painkillers.

Techniques

To relieve wrist pain, make a fist with your right hand. Place the knuckles of your fist on the outside of your left forearm two finger widths from the crease in your wrist. Briskly rub this area with your knuckles for 30 seconds.

Now place your right fist between the webbing in between your index finger and thumb on your left hand. Briskly rub for 30 seconds. Repeat this on the other hand. This exercise is called the Outer Gate.

Effects

Doing this will reduce wrist pain caused by tendonitis and rheumatism as well as increase your resistance to colds.
