Oil Pulling Liver Detox

Oil pulling is part of the Aruyveda healing system which emphasizes preventative and healing therapies as well as rejuvenation and purification, according to the website oilpulling.com. The theory behind oil pulling is that it works on the root cause of illnesses which is toxins in the system. This technique reportedly removes toxins from the system, thereby cleaning out the liver as well, using sunflower or sesame oil.

When to oil pull

Pour one tablespoon of sunflower or sesame oil into your mouth when you wake up, before drinking any liquids at all, including water.

Swish

Swish the oil around in your mouth. Tip your head back a little to be sure the oil gets into your back molars, where the most toxins are. Move it around and through your teeth so the oil mixes with your saliva. You can use your tongue to move the oil around your mouth.

Time's up

Spit the oil into the toilet after 20 minutes of swishing. The oil-saliva mixture will be thicker than when you first put it into your mouth. It may also look yellowish. Both of these conditions are normal.

Rinse

Rinse the oil from your mouth several times with warm water and spit it into the toilet. Do not swallow the rinse. You can also use diluted hydrogen peroxide as a rinse, or water with a teaspoon of salt dissolved in it. This is to rinse any toxins that may still be in your mouth from the oil pulling. You are now finished. It may take several days before you notice any difference in your health. According to Dr. Karach, continue the oil pulling practice until "strength, freshness, calm sleep, good appetite and good remembrance are back again."
