Meniere'S Disease Natural Treatment

Meniere's disease is a disorder of the inner ear that occurs when there is too much fluid, or endolymph, in the inner ear. As a result, Meniere's disease can affect hearing and balance. There are a number of natural treatments available for Meniere's disease.

Symptoms

According to Dr. Altshuler, in his book "Balanced Healing," symptoms of Meniere's disease include nausea, headache, exhaustion, hearing problems, tinnitus (ringing in the ear), and intermittent vertigo which is also known as rotary dizziness. Intermittent vertigo can last for less than an hour or up to two days.

Diet

Dr. Altshuler recommends restricting the intake of salt to lessen the number and frequency of attacks. Excessive salt can trigger the vertigo attacks that are characteristic of Meniere's disease.

Chinese Herbal Remedies

Chinese herbal formulas can help control the symptoms of dizziness and are recommended when used along with acupuncture. Helpful formulas include Tian Ma Gou Teng Yin and Si Wu Tang.

Dietary Supplements

Dr. Altshuler recommends vitamins to help reduce the symptoms of Meniere's disease. These include vitamin C, vitamins B1, B2 and B6. He also recommends taking zinc.
