Make A Magnetic Hematite Necklace

Holistic healers believe that magnetic hematite relieves pain and helps alleviate mental stress. You can easily test this belief for yourself if you make and wear a magnetic hematite necklace. Look for magnetic hematite beads in a variety of shapes and sizes from online bead suppliers. Hematite can be heavy, so it's a good idea to make the necklace with flexible beading wire for strength.

Instructions

1. Cut a length of flexible stringing wire 2 inches longer than the desired length of your magnetic hematite necklace.

2. Insert one end of your clasp over one end of the wire. Fold 1 inch of the wire over the clasp hook. Thread a crimp bead over the wire to the clasp hook.

3. Hold the second hole on your crimping pliers, the one with the dip, over the crimp bead. Press down with the pliers. The crimp bead will curl. Turn the crimped bead on its side. Hold the first hole in your crimping pliers over the curled crimp bead and press down to finish crimping the bead. Cut away the excess wire.

4. Thread a 4 mm magnetic hematite bead over the open end of wire, all the way to the crimp bead. Follow with an 8 mm magnetic hematite bead. Continue threading the 4 mm and 8 mm beads over the wire in an alternating pattern until the beads are 1 inch from the end of the wire. Alter the design of your necklace by using different magnetic hematite beads, such as larger rounds and barrel shapes in a variety of sizes.

5. Thread on a crimp bead then the remaining section of your clasp. Fold the wire around the clasp and through the crimp bead. Follow the directions in Step 3 and crimp the bead to hold the clasp in place. Cut away the excess wire.
