Identify Restless Leg Syndrome

Restless leg syndrome is a neurological disorder that causes an extremely uncomfortable feeling in one or both legs when a person is lying down. It may feel as though the leg is burning or being stuck with needles. This causes an overwhelming urge to shake the leg in order to make the uncomfortable sensations stop. Here are some other common traits of this disorder.

Instructions

1. The uneasy feeling usually occurs inside the leg, between the knee and ankle. Less frequently, it can occur in the feet, thighs, arms and hands. The sensations usually occur on both sides, but can happen on only one side of the body.

2. The time of day effects this condition. The symptoms are most severe at night, particularly right before sleep. They often go away during the early morning hours. This relief usually continues throughout the day.

3. Certain situations can bring on the symptoms in people who have restless leg syndrome. This includes sitting for long periods of time such as during a road trip, a long flight, having a limb in a cast or relaxation exercises.
