Get Rid Of Blemishes On The Face

A Dermatologist can advise you of the best blemish removal methods.

Achieving and maintaining flawless skin can feel like a struggle that never ends. When it comes to your face, there are numerous blemishes or marks that can take away from the natural beauty of your skin. For most people, acne is the most common problem that comes to mind; however there are many other types of flaws such as port wine stains, liver spots and any other type of marking or eruptions on the skin that are also classified as blemishes. If you suffer from blemishes chances are that you are looking for a way to get rid of them. Although not always fast or simple, there are treatments that are available that can help you get rid of these unpleasant flaws on your face.

Instructions

1. Use over-the-counter or prescription anti-blemish creams. Ask your dermatologist what type of topical treatments are best for your particular type of facial blemish. Depending on the severity of the problem, he may recommend that you use an over-the counter cream or lotion such as one that is meant for the treatment of acne. These topical products can contain antioxidants or alphahydroxy acids. Antioxidants help to eliminate free radicals that can damage skin cells, and alphahydroxides gently encourage the shedding of surface skin cells. If these types of treatments don't seem to work, an antibiotic cream may be prescribed to treat any underlying problems that can cause certain types of blemishes.

2. Ask about chemical peels if topical treatments are not effectively eliminating your blemishes. There are three types of chemical peels that are available; however, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons cites applications of trichloroacetic acid (TCA) as the method to use to remove superficial blemishes from the face. A full face TCA will typically take no longer than 15 minutes; however, for best results two or more sessions with at least two months between each session, may be required. By 10 days after the surgery, any swelling or discomfort will have been resolved and new skin will begin to appear. With milder applications of TCA, there is less of the bleaching effect that is common with chemical peels, which makes TCA a better choice for darker skin tones.

3. Inquire about laser resurfacing or laser skin peels. The American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery suggests that laser skin peeling can be used to remove certain types of facial blemishes. Discuss with your doctor if this is a procedure that will work for the type of blemishes that you have on your face.
