Preserve Water Quality

Whether public utilities or private wells provide the water, quality is tantamount. Keeping water quality at an acceptable level is something we can all affect for the better or worse. Public habits and practices are the number one challenge to the quality of our water and learning be better stewards of our earth will translate into better quality water for us all.

Instructions

1. Keep all chemicals away from the water table. Use only nature friendly additives and soaps. Harmful chemicals from simply washing our cars can enter the water supply and damage water quality.

2. Invest in a hybrid or crossover vehicle that has reduced emissions. Output from petroleum burning cars and trucks eventually makes its way into the water supply. Alternative energy vehicles reduce this output to much lower levels or eliminate them completely.

3. Understand how storm water run-off affects the ecosystem. Water run-off travels down storm drains and into rivers, lakes or even the seas. As the water travels across the surface, it picks up contaminants and chemicals and deposits them into our environment.

4. Recycle all trash in the proper manner. Never litter or dump garbage in open areas or anywhere not posted as a landfill. As this litter breaks down, it transfers harmful materials back into the water supply and reduces its quality.

5. Regulate all manner of animal waste and farm related output. Farming produces an enormous amount of pesticides, fertilizers and feces that lead to significant pollution of water supplies.
