Treat A Rash

Rashes are a fairly common occurence in your lifetime. They can make you very uncomfortable and the itching can drive you crazy. Although they can be irritating, most are not serious and can disappear after a few days. Just because they are a fact of life doesn't mean there is nothing you can do about them. Below are a few ways to help ease the pain and irritation of your rash and to help your skin begin to heal.

1. Resist the urge to scratch your rash, it will only make the rash worse and the healing time longer. Try to keep your mind off the itch, walk around or engage is some activity that can distract you. There are some over-the-counter lotions for rashes that help with the itch, but unless you know what kind of rash you have it's better to not use them. Sometimes they can make the situation worse if you are using the wrong lotion.


2. Use warm water when bathing or showering. Hot water can further irritate your skin. Make sure you pat yourself dry instead of rubbing. Rubbing your skin can also cause more irritation.


3. Use mild soap when washing and use it sparingly. It is also a good idea to stay away from scented lotions a perfumes.


4. Expose the area to air as much as possible. This will help keep the area dry and aid in healing.
