What Are The Treatments For Dizziness

blurred trees

Dizziness is often a symptom related to medications being taken to treat a medical condition. However, there are times when the feeling of losing your balance is linked to an imbalance of nutrition. Increasing your vitamin intake or using effective herbal remedies can help treat and prevent dizziness.

Vitamin B

An insufficent amount of any of the complex B vitamins can cause dizziness, confusion and even nausea. Brain development, the immune and nervous systems, and blood circulation require enough B vitamins to function properly. The most important B vitamin that can prevent dizziness is B6. Niacin supports brain function. If you experience dizziness regularly, then it's a good idea to take about 300 mg of vitamin B6 each day. Getting adequate amounts of B6 can correct the cause of your dizziness.

Herbal Remedies

Herbal remedies can do wonders for dizziness by replenishing your body with the nutrients it is lacking, which may also be causing you to feel dizzy. Celery juice taken daily will increase your intake of vitamins and minerals. Celery is rich in both. To create celery juice, you'll need a juicer, celery and carrots. Blend one cup of celery and two cups of carrots to make your celery juice.

Pumpkin seeds can help clear your head. Just chew 10 g of ground pumpkin seeds to begin feeling better. You can also use the ancient herbal remedy ginger. All you need is 1 g of ginger powder to stop your head from spinning.

Basil is another good herb for relieving dizzy spells. Add three basil leaves to a cup of boiling milk, and drink just before bed. And cayenne pepper can eliminate dizziness and nausea. It helps get the circulatory system back on track quickly. Just mix 1/8 tsp. each of cayenne pepper, salt, black pepper and vinegar into one cup of water. Mix well and drink.

Home Care

Drink plenty of water, eat healthy meals regularly and get plenty of rest. A lack of any of those can make you lightheaded. If you experience dizziness regularly, then don't move too quickly. Stand up slowly and walk slowly. Make your home safe with banisters, a walker, a cane and tub mats to prevent serious injury in case you have a dizzy spell. Repair any snags in the carpet that can cause you to lose your balance. Make sure that rugs are secure and remove rugs that can cause you to lose your balance and fall.

Causes

Medical conditions that may cause dizziness include high blood pressure, low blood pressure, circulation and nervous system disorders, dehydration, medications, diabetes, hyperventilation, an ear infection, head injury, and heart conditions. Age is another cause of dizziness. Episodes are most frequent among those age 75 or older.
