Become A Yoga Instructor In Ontario

Become a Yoga Instructor in Ontario

Yoga is both an ancient spiritual practice and a burgeoning sector in the health and fitness industry. Yoga instructors work out of private studios or community centers and offer classes to novice and experienced practitioners. The range of yoga styles allows for a practice that is suitable to almost anyone's taste, whether the desire is to learn or to teach yoga. Although there is no governing body that regulates yoga teachers in Ontario, Canada, it is essential to obtain a combination of education, experience and network contacts to succeed as an instructor.

Instructions

1. Discuss your aspirations with a yoga teacher in Ontario whom you respect and who practices the style of yoga you would like to teach. Ask her what training she undertook to become an instructor and whether she would recommend a similar program. Ask her to provide the names of good trainers to whom she could refer you.

2. Contact the administration of several yoga studios and community centers in Ontario and ask what training they require of their yoga instructors. Ask what school they look upon with favor when choosing between applicants for teaching positions. Ask whether there is any additional life experience or skills the studios and centers look for when the time comes to hire teachers.

3. Apply for a teaching certification program and take into account the advice from the yoga teacher and studios. Complete that program. Remain involved in the yoga community during the course of your training and be open about your teaching aspirations. Openness about your desire to be a yoga instructor can lead to tips from friends and colleagues about job availabilities in Ontario for which you may be suited.

4. Send your credentials to yoga studios and community centers in Ontario. Request that you be considered for a current or upcoming yoga instructor position. Continue to network and remain involved in the yoga community so you can be apprised of not only new opportunities to teach, but also new people who may wish to become your students.
