Make A Tumeric Poultice

Turmeric is a useful herb that can be taken internally or applied externally. Turmeric and its extracts are anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antifungal, making them useful in treating conditions from boils to carpal tunnel syndrome. Skin conditions can be treated with a poultice alone, or by using a poultice on the area plus eating 1 to 3 grams of turmeric daily.

Instructions

1. Mix a gram of ground turmeric with enough water to form a paste. For an extra powerful poultice, add some curcumin extract in with the turmeric. Curcumin is one of the most effective components in turmeric.

2. Mix in any other medicinal herbs you wish to use. If you are treating pain or inflammation, you may want to add capsicum or ground ginger.

3. Spread the paste between two strips of gauze. Put the gauze on the area you want to treat.

4. Cover the gauze with an elastic bandage. Depending on what part of your body you are wrapping, you may have to tape it on with medical tape.

5. Change the turmeric poultice at least once a day. Turmeric can be used safely for as long as you need it.
