What Are The Duties Of A Director Of Nursing In A Nursing Home

The Director of Nursing has a very important job in the nursing home setting. She has the responsibility of overseeing the development and implementation of the residents care programs. It is her responsibility to see that the policies and procedures are followed to the letter and that all ethical and legal concerns are met.

Evaluations


The DON will evaluate the staff. He will make rounds to ensure the quality of the nursing care that is being given to the patients. He will also see to it that optimal care is given within a safe environment.

The DON will implement effective programs to measure, assess, and improve the quality of care that is given to the patients in the nursing home.

The DON will intervene in certain situations and will protect the human and civil rights of the patients, clients, or staff.

The Director Of Nursing is responsible for providing twenty-four hour nursing coverage for the nursing home.
