Treat Jaundice With Home Remedies

Jaundice occurs when your liver gets overtaxed and can no longer adequately perform its job of filtering and eliminating toxins from your bloodstream. People who get jaundice often turn a shade of yellow all over. In some cases, only the whites of a person's eyes turn yellow. Jaundice can make you feel sickly and fatigued as your liver struggles to perform its job. Rather than feel bad, take charge by using effective home remedies to treat jaundice.

Instructions

1. Grind a handful of papaya leaves into a paste. Combine a half a tsp. of the paste with 1 tsp. of raw honey and take this 1 to 2 times a day until the jaundice goes away.

2. Boil 1 cup of water, then pour it over four to five leaves from a lemon tree. Steep for at least 5 minutes, then strain off the leaves and drink the water. Do this 4 times a day until you no longer have jaundice.

3. Mix a quarter tsp. of turmeric powder with 1 cup of water at room temperature. Drink this 3 times a day to treat jaundice.

4. Juice two to three tomatoes each morning before breakfast (enough tomatoes to make a cup of juice). Mix the juice with a pinch of salt and black pepper and drink prior to eating breakfast. This is one of the oldest home remedies for jaundice.

5. Boil 1 cup of barley in 3 liters of water. When the water is cooled, strain off the barley. Drink a cup of this water 3 times a day to treat jaundice.

6. Avoid eating fatty, heavy, rich or oily foods when you have jaundice, as these are taxing on the liver. When you have jaundice, the liver needs to rest as much as possible.
