Decorate A Patio With Vinyl Fencing

Decorate a Patio With Vinyl Fencing

Enhance the boundaries of your patio by creating a corner along two sides with vinyl fencing. Vinyl fencing is often a glossy white shade which will stand out against your landscape. When you place the panels to create a corner on your patio, you are also creating a focal point. Decorate the fence line with flowering plants, birdhouses and lighting to create a charming ambiance on your patio.

Instructions

1. Install vinyl fence posts and panels along two adjacent sides of your patio. Turn the fence panels so the outside section of the panel is facing into the patio. To install the fence panels, first dig holes and cement the fence posts in place. Connect the fence panels to the posts according to the manufacturer's directions.

2. Plant flowering vines such as clematis on either end of your fencing. The vines will grow and run along the vinyl fencing. You can plant the vines in the ground at the edge of your patio or plant them in containers on the patio.

3. Stand a flowering tree in the corner where the vinyl fencing meets. A dwarf citrus tree is a good choice, as is a hibiscus, magnolia, crepe myrtle or dogwood. Select the type of tree that best suits your climate. Select a container with casters that moves easily so you can bring the tree indoors as needed during the winter.

4. Decorate the top of the fence line with hand-painted birdhouses. You can find a selection of decorative birdhouses at many home stores, or you can purchase an unfinished birdhouse from the craft store and decorate it yourself. Stencils and acrylic paints help make this an easy craft project. You can attach the birdhouses to stands and place them on the outside of the vinyl fencing so the stand is not visible from the patio.

5. Stretch a strand of solar string lights along the top of the vinyl fencing for nighttime enjoyment. You can also wind the strand in an S formation along the entire face of both panels. This will look beautiful at night when the lights are lit, but the wires may detract from the beauty of the fence in the daytime.
