Homemade Paper Christmas Tree Decorations

Decorating your Christmas tree with homemade paper decorations is easy and affordable.

Decorating your Christmas tree is simple using homemade paper ornaments that can be made with items you already have at home. In just one day, you can make enough paper chains, snowflakes and ornaments to trim the entire tree.

Paper Chains

Paper chains are easy Christmas tree decorations to make at home. Using a 1- by 5-inch strip of construction paper, make a circle by bringing the ends together, and fasten using tape or dab of glue. Take the next strip through the completed circle, and fasten again; repeat until you have a chain of desired length.

Snowflakes

Paper snowflakes are another popular homemade Christmas tree decoration. A sheet of white paper is folded several times---typically in eighths or like an accordion---and scissors are used to cut various shapes from the paper along the folds. Once completed, ribbon or yarn can be strung through easily for hanging.

Recycled Christmas Cards and Wrapping Paper

Recycling used Christmas cards and wrapping paper into homemade tree decorations is an easy and environmentally friendly idea. Simply cut stars, gingerbread men, and Christmas trees from used cards, and hang with ribbon. Use scraps of wrapping paper to cover and tiny jewelry boxes into instant miniature gifts; hang with string or wire fasteners.
