Remove Bakedon Cooking Spray

Baking soda helps remove baked-on cooking spray from your pots and pans.

Cooking sprays can prevent foods from sticking to your pots and pans, but over time these sprays can leave behind a sticky residue. While scrubbing pans thoroughly after each use may remove the baked-on cooking spray, sometimes regular cleaning isn't enough. When the buildup remains even after you've washed the dish, a few extra steps can get your pans sparkling clean without leaving behind any unsightly scratches.

Instructions

Metal or Silicone Pans

1. Wash metal or silicone pans with a nylon scrub brush and hot, soapy water to remove as much of the cooking spray as possible.

2. Rinse the pans with hot water.

3. Sprinkle a few tbsp. of baking soda onto the wet pans.

4. Rub the baking soda onto the pan with a wet nylon scrub brush. This will form a paste that will gently remove the cooking spray buildup without scratching the pans.

5. Rinse and dry the pans after the baked-on cooking spray is removed.

Glass Pans

6. Wash a glass pan in hot, soapy water to remove bits of food and cooking spray. Rinse and dry the pan before you continue to the next step.

7. Open a window in your kitchen to let in fresh air.

8. Place the glass pan in the sink and spray it with oven cleaner. Wait several minutes to give the oven cleaner time to break down the cooking spray buildup.

9. Scrub the pan with hot water and a nylon scrub brush to remove the oven cleaner and the baked-on cooking spray.

10. Repeat steps three and four, if necessary, to remove all of the cooking spray.
