Elmo Document Camera Troubleshooting

The Elmo document camera is a valuable teacher's helper, as it is useful in displaying images of small insects, meal-worms or fossils for class assignments. It also helps in demonstrating finger spelling or sign language, developing map skills, and displaying books and text for group readings. If your camera is not working as expected, take some troubleshooting steps and get it back in working condition.

Instructions

1. Verify that the power cord is plugged in all the way to the AC wall outlet if the camera does not turn on.

2. Retrace the camera installation steps if it does not output an image. Verify that all of the connections are correct. Refer to the projector's user manual for the correct input source selection.

3. Verify that the DIP switch output setting is correct if the quality of the scan is low. The DIP switch is located on the back of the camera, second port from the left. The RGB/VGA setting is the default setting; however, if a video, or RCA, cable is connected to the camera, use the Video (RCA) setting.

4. Press the Magnifying Glass with a Negative Sign symbol button on the control panel if the camera does not focus correctly. Alternately, increase the distance between the lens and the document, then press the AF button.

5. Verify that the Auto Image setting on the projector is correct if the image is incomplete.

Tips Warnings

If you use an RCA cable connection option in Step 3, the scan quality will be inferior. Whenever possible, use a VGA cable unless the Elmo is in a stationery location -- such as in a library -- for a long period of time.
