Set the Sleep Number bed to your desired firmness.
The Sleep Number bed is an air mattress assembly by Select Comfort. The air mattress system uses a plastic foundation that supports either a single or double air mattress. A vendor provided air pump along with a hand-held controller regulates the amount of air the mattress can hold. The Sleep Number system registers the amount of air contained within the air chambers by a series of numbers ranked 0 through 100. The higher the number, the firmer the mattress. Deflating the mattress is a short process.
Instructions
1. Press the down arrow on the hand-held controller. If the air mattress is a double chamber, hold the R right or L left button at the same time as the down arrow button. Watch the readout display, if applicable, until it reads 0. This will remove the air from the chambers.
2. Remove all of the bedding from the mattress to access the zipper on the mattress cover. Unzip the cover to expose the foam pad.
3. Take off the foam pad to expose the plastic air mattress.
4. Unplug the air pump's electrical cord from the wall outlet. Reach under the plastic mattress where the air pump tube connects to the air chamber.
5. Grasp the tube connector with two hands and gently pull apart. Any remaining air will now exit the mattress. Push gently on the mattress to force all air from the enclosure.
6. Close the air mattress opening with the mattress cap provided by Sleep Number.
Tips Warnings
Keep the deflated mattress away from sharp objects and extreme heat, as the plastic material is easily punctured and deformed by excessive heat such as an iron or open flame.
